Product description

Plastic bottle, blue, with black fine mist sprayer, 200 ml

A ready-made combination of a blue PET bottle with a nominal volume of 200 ml and a black mechanical fine mist sprayer for the fine spraying of thin liquids. The bottle is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits products that are carried in a bag, used in the bathroom or used when working with water. The blue colour gives the product a uniform look.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

The sprayer dispenses the contents as a fine mist, so the set is used mainly for products with a consistency close to water:

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – sprayed directly onto the skin, without your hands touching the contents.
  • Refreshing and setting sprays – for the face or for make-up, and the 200 ml volume is enough for longer use.
  • Hair care sprays – detangling sprays, hydrosols and herbal infusions for the scalp.
  • Body sprays and fabric fragrance sprays – alcohol-based and water-based compositions without thickeners.
  • Household cleaning sprays – water-based and alcohol-based solutions whose ingredients do not attack plastic.

Thick or oily contents are harder to spray with a mechanical sprayer, the mist is uneven and the nozzle clogs more easily. For pure oils we recommend a bottle with a pump or a dropper instead.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer head, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled up to the neck, the contents would overflow when the sprayer is fitted and the closure might not seat correctly.

Sprayer and dispensing

The sprayer is made of polypropylene (PP), with a ribbed collar for a better grip when screwing it on and a clear dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. The head is operated by pressing with a finger, and the mechanism works without a propellant. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which makes it easier to apply toners or sprays evenly without dripping. Before first use, press the head several times without product until the tube fills.

If the dip tube is too long after fitting and bends against the bottom, it can be shortened with a sharp knife using a diagonal cut so that it just touches the bottom. Almost all of the contents can then be used up.

Good to know

Before first filling, we recommend washing the bottle and the sprayer, rinsing them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and leaving them to dry completely. Moisture in the bottle would dilute the contents and, with water-based products, increases the risk of microbial contamination. Water-based products in this packaging need preservation just as in any other packaging, because the sprayer does not protect them from microbes.

Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals and do not heat it; let hot contents cool down before filling. For mixtures with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation, ideally on a single piece before larger-scale filling.

The packaging is suitable for repeated use if it is washed thoroughly between fillings and the sprayer nozzle is flushed with clean water. Product residues in the tube and in the mechanism are the most common cause of clogging. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of polypropylene; once separated, the two parts are recycled separately.

You will find closures with the same 24/410 neck finish and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend testing the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The set is not approved for contact with food. Only the bottle itself has a food-contact certificate; with the sprayer fitted, the packaging is intended for cosmetic and technical use.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 200 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosol or toner?
Yes, hydrosols, toners and other thin water-based products are the typical use for this set. The mechanical sprayer dispenses them as a fine mist and the contents are applied without your hands touching them. A water-based product must be preserved, because the packaging alone does not ensure microbial stability.
Can oil be stored in the blue PET bottle with a sprayer?
Pure oil does not spray well with a mechanical sprayer, as the mist is coarse and the nozzle clogs. Thin mixtures with a smaller proportion of oil in alcohol or water may behave better, but we recommend testing their behaviour on a single piece. For oils on their own we recommend a bottle with a pump or a dropper.
Can I fill the plastic bottle with a sprayer with alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, common alcohol-based solutions, for example fabric fragrance sprays, disinfectant sprays or refreshing sprays, are a suitable use for this set. The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of polypropylene. With a high content of essential oils or fragrance compositions, we recommend first testing how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation on a single piece.
Why is the bottle with a sprayer not filled to the brim?
Because once the sprayer is fitted, the dip tube and the head take up part of the volume inside the bottle and the contents would overflow. The reserve above the nominal volume also allows for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 200 ml, so the closure then seats correctly and seals.
Is the bottle and sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the bottle has a food-contact certificate on its own; the sprayer does not. With the sprayer fitted, the packaging is intended for cosmetic products and technical use.
