Product description

The blue 200 ml PET bottle and a pump with a 24/410 neck finish form a ready-made set for liquid and medium-thick cosmetic products that are used in small amounts: liquid soap, shower gel, body lotion, hair conditioner or massage oil. Pressing the actuator dispenses a measured amount, the contents do not spill and there is no need to open or tip the bottle. This type of packaging therefore makes sense wherever a product is used several times a day.

The PET bottle is lightweight and will not break if dropped in the shower or during transport. The black and gold pump has an actuator and collar made of PP plastic, with an aluminium part giving it its gold look. The blue bottle with the dark pump looks cohesive on a shelf or in the bathroom and suits both your own brand and gift packaging.

What the set is suitable for

  • Rinse-off bathroom products – liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, where one-handed dispensing and packaging that withstands water and drops are valued.
  • Body lotions and light emulsions – the pump draws up liquid and medium-thick emulsions without difficulty. With thick creams, the dose is harder to dispense, so we recommend testing this in advance.
  • Body oils and oil serums – vegetable oils and their blends pass through the dip tube easily and the dose tends to be fuller than with emulsions.
  • Leave-in hair care – liquid hair lotions or oil blends for the ends, where a small dose is enough for one application.

Dispensing and filling

One press of the actuator dispenses approximately 1 ml of product. The exact amount depends on the thickness of the product and on how far you press the actuator down. The dip tube is longer than the bottle so that it reaches the bottom. If it remains bent after the pump is fitted, trim it so that its end touches the bottom and draws up the last remnants of the contents.

Before filling for the first time, rinse the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely.

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference provides space for the dip tube and pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, never to the rim.

If you fill the bottle right up to the neck, the contents will be forced out through the thread when the pump is fitted and the closure will not seal. With emulsions and gel products, leave additional space for the air that the pump draws in during the first few presses.

Before first use, press the pump several times until the dip tube fills and the actuator starts dispensing the product. Repeat this after a longer period of non-use.

Good to know

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The pump does not have one, so the set is intended for cosmetics and we do not recommend it for food use.

The PET bottle is filled cold. Allow hot emulsions or solutions to cool before filling, as the plastic changes shape at higher temperatures. For products with a higher proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend a test pack: fill it, store it for several weeks and check whether the packaging changes shape or colour or stops sealing properly.

Packaging does not replace the preservation of water-based formulations, and once opened, a pump with a dip tube cannot be cleaned as thoroughly as the bottle itself. For repeated use, therefore, take the whole set apart, rinse the dip tube with warm water, disinfect it and leave it to dry.

The bottle with a GL24 thread can also be combined with other closures with the same neck type, which you will find in the Handymade range together with ready-made combinations. When creating your own combination, check the seal and the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation.

The PET bottle goes in plastic recycling. The pump combines PP plastic and aluminium, so unscrew it before throwing the bottle away and dispose of it separately.

Frequently asked questions

Can the 200 ml bottle and pump set be used for thick creams?
Only to a limited extent. The pump is designed for liquid and medium-thick products such as lotions, gels and liquid soap. A thick cream is drawn up through the dip tube slowly, the dose tends to be irregular and the pump may stop working. A jar or container is better suited to thick textures. If you still want to try the pump, fill a single test pack first.
How much product does the pump dispense per press?
Approximately 1 ml. The actual amount depends on the thickness of the product, the temperature and whether you press the actuator all the way down. With thinner products and oils, the dose tends to be fuller; with thicker emulsions, it is smaller. If you need a precise dose for the directions for use, measure it with your own formulation.
Is the set with the pump also suitable for food?
No, not as a whole. Only the blue PET bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The pump does not have such a declaration, so the bottle and pump set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. For homemade oils or syrups, use a bottle with a closure that is certified for food contact.
How do I clean the PET bottle with pump for repeated use?
Take the whole set apart and wash the individual parts separately. Rinse the bottle with warm water and washing-up liquid, and pump clean water through the pump several times until clear water comes out of the actuator. Then disinfect both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The dip tube and pump cannot be cleaned as thoroughly as the bottle, so with water-based products, expect the pump to have a shorter service life.
Can I pour a hot emulsion into the blue PET bottle?
No, the PET bottle is filled cold. With hot contents, the plastic softens and the bottle may change shape or become deformed at the thread, which impairs the seal of the pump. After emulsification, let the emulsion cool to room temperature and only then pour it into the bottle and fit the pump.
