Product description
Plastic bottle, blue, with plastic pump, 250 ml
A blue PET bottle with a nominal volume of 250 ml and a plastic pump in black and gold form a ready-made set for cosmetic products that are dispensed by pressing the pump head. It is suitable for liquid hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion or massage oil. The PET bottle is lightweight, so it works well by the sink, in the shower and in a travel bag. The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish and a pump with the same thread is included in the pack, so you do not need to buy or match a closure separately.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
How to use the set
The pump screws directly onto the bottle neck. The dip tube reaches into the contents, and pressing the pump head releases a dose of approximately 1 ml, which corresponds to the usual amount of liquid soap or shampoo for a single use. The pump is black and gold, made of polypropylene and aluminium. After filling the bottle, prime the pump by pressing the pump head several times until the dip tube fills and the pump starts dispensing evenly.
Before screwing it on, check that the dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle. If it is longer and bends inside the bottle, shorten it with a sharp knife using a straight cut. A slanted or frayed end can impair dispensing.
What the set is suitable for
- Liquid hand soap – a 1 ml dose lathers well and the lightweight PET bottle belongs by the sink.
- Shower gel and shampoo – liquid to medium-thick textures pass through the dip tube without problems, and the 250 ml volume is a standard household size.
- Body lotion – lighter emulsions are dispensed comfortably. With thicker creams, we recommend testing whether the pump draws them up reliably.
- Massage and body oil – the pump limits spillage when working with oily hands.
- Selling finished cosmetics – the set has a declaration of conformity, and the blue bottle with a black and gold pump looks coherent on the counter.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 250 ml is the volume for which the bottle is intended in standard filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the pump, which takes up part of the space in the neck once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents overflow when the pump is screwed on or are pushed up through the dip tube.
Good to know
Before first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, rinse them with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would get into the product and could put a strain on its preservative system. The set can be used repeatedly. When changing the contents, it is enough to rinse the bottle and the pump thoroughly and disinfect them again. When switching from an oil-based to a water-based product, bear in mind that oil residues are harder to remove from the dip tube.
Do not expose the bottle to aggressive chemicals. The set is intended for finished products with a usual proportion of fragrance components. At a higher concentration of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with the specific formulation.
The pump is intended for liquid and medium-thick products. Very thick creams, butters or gels with high viscosity can overload the pump, the dip tube does not draw them up and the pump head returns slowly after pressing. Therefore test the thickness of your final recipe in the set before you fill the whole batch.
The bottle is made of PET and belongs in plastic waste after use. Unscrew the pump before recycling and dispose of it separately, because it combines polypropylene with aluminium. If you want to close the bottle in a different way, you will find closures for the 24/410 neck and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation.
