Product description
A brown plastic bottle of the medicine-bottle type with a volume of 500 ml and a black plastic pump make up a ready-to-use set, prepared for filling without searching for a suitable closure. It is intended for liquid and gel cosmetic products used daily at the sink or in the shower and dispensed with one hand without unscrewing.
The PET bottle is lightweight and break-resistant, and the brown tint reduces light transmission. The 500 ml volume is practical for family-size packaging, salon use and for manufacturers who want to offer a larger, economical pack.
What the set offers
- Brown PET reduces light – the contents are less exposed to daylight than in a clear bottle, which benefits products with plant extracts, fragrance components and natural colourants. The packaging is not opaque, so the fill level is visible.
- Lightweight and durable – a PET bottle is significantly lighter than glass of the same volume and will not break if dropped in the bathroom or shower.
- Pump for convenient dispensing – a single press releases a measured dose, the contents do not spill and water from your hands does not get into the bottle, which saves product and reduces the risk of contamination.
- Black closure on a brown bottle – the combination looks consistent across various label styles, from minimalist to natural.
- Declared for contact with cosmetics – based on the technical documentation, both the bottle and the pump are suitable for cosmetic products; declarations of conformity are available with the product.
What products the set is suitable for
The pump handles liquid to medium-thick contents: liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body and face lotions, cleansing milks, cleansing gels and massage oils. Thick creams and butters will not pass through a pump with a dip tube, or they dispense unevenly. For those, jars, pots or pumps designed for thick textures are more suitable.
For gel products with a thickener such as Carbomer or xanthan, we recommend testing the dispensing with a few presses before the final filling. If the pump "draws" air or dispenses weakly, the gel is too thick and slightly reducing the thickener concentration will help.
With oil-based products the dispensing is smooth. With pure oils we recommend checking the tightness of the pump head after it has stood for a longer time. The set is most suitable for water-based and emulsion products.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger – the difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it were filled all the way up to the neck, the contents would be pushed out once the pump was screwed on and there would be a risk of overflowing.
What is good to know when filling and using
PET is not intended for hot filling. Let emulsions, gels and soaps cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the bottle may deform and, as the contents cool, a vacuum forms that pulls the walls inward.
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend rinsing and disinfecting both the bottle and the pump with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Rinse the pump's dip tube separately, as it retains water residue.
- Essential oils and solvents – PET is stable at common cosmetic concentrations of essential oils. For products with a high proportion of essential oils, limonene or alcohol, we recommend verifying how the packaging behaves in the finished formulation.
- Pump dip tube – it is supplied longer than this bottle requires. Once screwed on, it should reach just above the bottom; if it rests against the bottom and bends, shorten it with a sharp knife.
- Reuse – both the bottle and the pump can be refilled after thorough cleaning and disinfection. You will find the procedure in the questions below.
- Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall is suitable for standard self-adhesive labels as well as for printing. You will find the dimensions for designing a label in the parameters.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the pump of PP. Before disposal, unscrew the pump and sort both parts as plastic.
The brown PET bottle on its own holds certification for direct contact with food. The pump does not have such certification, so the set as a whole is not intended for food or beverages – it is intended for cosmetic products.
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
