Product description
Plastic bottle with a black pump for 500 ml is a complete set designed for liquid cosmetic products dispensed by pressing – liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions or cleansing gels. The bottle made of PET is lightweight and unbreakable. The brown colour filters light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, such as formulations with vegetable or essential oils. The black pump dispenses the contents without opening the bottle, which is practical in the bathroom, at the sink and in commercial settings where the product is used daily.
The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle has a separate certification for direct food contact, but the pump does not, so the set is intended for cosmetics.
Why choose this set
- Dispensing without opening – the contents are dispensed with each use via the pump, keeping fingers and sink water out of the bottle. This reduces the risk of contamination and puts less strain on the preservative system of the formulation.
- Light protection – brown PET transmits less light than a clear container, slowing the degradation of light-sensitive ingredients and helping to preserve the colour and scent of the product.
- Lightweight and durable packaging – PET does not shatter when dropped, which is an advantage for shower and sink products. In shipping, it reduces package weight compared to glass.
- Volume for daily use – 500 ml lasts a long time with regular use of liquid soap or shampoo; it is also suitable for family-size packs or retail.
- Standard neck size – the bottle and pump both have a 28/410 thread; the set seals securely and can be paired with other closures of the same neck size from the Handymade range.
What the set is suitable for
The pump dispenses approximately 1 ml per press, which corresponds to a typical dose of liquid soap, shower gel or shampoo. These products are the most suitable for the set: liquid and slightly thickened formulations that pass through the tube and do not require a large dose.
The pump also dispenses body lotions and light emulsions, provided they are not too thick. The pump with its tube cannot reliably draw up thick creams, masks and paste-like products – for those, jars or pots are more appropriate. The pump will dispense body and massage oils with lower viscosity, but we recommend testing the pump's seal with a specific oil during prolonged use.
PET is a suitable material for aqueous and surfactant-based formulations. The container is not intended for contact with aggressive chemicals, so for formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, verify compatibility with a test batch.
Before first use, press the pump several times without product to prime the tube. The first few presses will dispense less or nothing until the system is primed – this is normal.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the rim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is larger. The difference provides allowance for the pump and its tube, which take up some space inside the bottle once screwed in, as well as allowance for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the rim. An overfilled bottle will overflow onto the thread when the pump is attached, compromising the seal.
What's good to know before filling
Before first filling, wash and disinfect both the bottle and the pump with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Rinse the pump tube and let it drip dry – residual water inside would dilute the first doses of product.
Do not fill PET with hot contents. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling; otherwise the material may deform and the bottle may lose its shape or neck seal. The set should not be kept near radiators or in direct sunlight, even though the brown colour filters light.
When properly tightened, the pump is sealed for normal upright use. When transporting filled bottles, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the specific formulation in the set, as liquid products may leak through the dispensing opening if tipped or under pressure in a parcel.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. Before refilling, rinse the pump with warm water and pump clean water through it several times to remove residues of the previous product from the mechanism. When changing products, make sure residues of the old formulation do not mix with the new one.
The bottle is made of PET and the pump of PP. These are two different materials – separate them before sorting for recycling.
Verify label dimensions against the bottle's measurements before sending to print. Labels adhere well on the flat section of the body; near the shoulder or base they may wrinkle.
