Product description

A clear 200 ml PET bottle and a white mini trigger sprayer with a glossy silver collar make a ready-to-use packaging set for tonics, hydrosols, refreshing face and body sprays or hair waters. The sprayer disperses thin liquids into a fine mist, so the contents are applied evenly, in small doses and without fingers touching the filling. PET is lightweight and does not shatter when dropped, which makes it suitable for the bathroom, a handbag and travel. Through the clear walls you can see the colour of the contents and how much is left. Both the bottle and the sprayer come with a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Face and body tonics – thin water-based solutions that are sprayed directly onto the skin and left to dry or gently patted in.
  • Hydrosols and floral waters – the mist dispenses small amounts and nothing is wasted on a cotton pad.
  • Hair sprays and tonics – leave-in sprays to refresh the hair, curl-refreshing solutions or hair waters for the scalp.
  • Fabric and room fresheners – water-based or alcohol-based sprays with a fragrance composition.
  • Work surface cleaning solutions – a technical-grade bottle also works for cleaning tools and moulds during cosmetic production.

The mini trigger sprayer is designed for liquids with a density close to water. Lotions, thicker serums and pure oils produce a stream or drops instead of a mist, and the pump may become clogged. With thicker or oil-based fillings, test the sprayer with your specific formulation before filling a larger quantity.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer with its dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The dip tube reaches the bottom, so almost the entire filling can be dispensed.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the sprayer pushes part of the contents out when screwed on, the neck gets dirty and the seal is poorer.

One press releases approximately 0.12 ml, so the whole filling corresponds to approximately 1 600 presses. For tonics and hydrosols, a few presses are enough for the face, so the bottle lasts a long time even with daily use.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash and rinse the bottle and the sprayer, then disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Pump clean water through the sprayer first and then alcohol, and let all parts dry completely. Follow the same procedure for every subsequent filling, especially if you change the recipe.

Let the filling cool to room temperature before filling the bottle. PET is not designed for hot filling, and the wall deforms with heat.

The clear walls let light through. Store hydrosols, plant extracts and products with essential oils away from direct sunlight; dark glass is more suitable for sensitive formulations.

With a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, check compatibility with PET and with the plastic parts of the sprayer on a small quantity. Watch for cloudiness or softening of the wall, the tightness of the seal and whether the mist turns into a stream.

The bottle has a 24/410 neck finish. The sprayer can be replaced with another closure with the same neck type; you can find separate closures and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of PP with an aluminium collar. Before disposal, separate the parts and put the plastics into sorted waste collection.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 200 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosols and tonics?
Yes, thin water-based solutions such as hydrosols and tonics are the most suitable type of filling for this set. The mini trigger sprayer disperses them into a fine mist, and they are applied in small doses and without fingers touching the contents. The bottle is clear and lets light through, so store hydrosols and products with essential oils away from direct sunlight.
Can the clear PET bottle with a sprayer be used for an oil serum or body oil?
As a rule, this sprayer is not suitable for oils and thicker serums. It is designed for liquids with a density close to water, oils produce a stream or drops instead of a mist, and the pump may become clogged. If you still want to try an oil, test its behaviour on a small quantity. If no mist is produced, choose a bottle with a pump.
Why is the 200 ml bottle filled only to the nominal volume and not to the brim?
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for, while the brimful volume also includes the reserve at the neck. This reserve is needed for the sprayer’s dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the sprayer pushes part of the filling out when screwed on and the neck no longer seals well.
Can I use the clear PET bottle with a sprayer for alcohol-based solutions and fragranced sprays?
Yes, water-alcohol fresheners and sprays with a fragrance composition are among the usual fillings for this set. With a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, check compatibility with PET and with the plastic parts of the sprayer on a small quantity. Watch for cloudiness or softening of the wall, the tightness of the closure and the quality of the mist.
How do I clean the plastic bottle and the sprayer before refilling?
Wash and rinse the bottle and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then let it dry completely. Pump clean water through the sprayer first to remove residues of the previous filling, and then alcohol. Let all parts air dry. Do not pour hot water into the bottle or the sprayer, as PET deforms with heat.
Is the 200 ml bottle and sprayer set also suitable for food?
No, the set is not declared for contact with food. Both the bottle and the sprayer come with a declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products and are intended for that purpose. For homemade oils, syrups or herbal infusions, choose packaging whose parameters state suitability for contact with food.
