Product description

The blue glass bottle with dropper is used for filling and dispensing 50 ml of serum, facial oil or other liquid cosmetics that are applied by the drop. Blue glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate especially with oils and active ingredients that are sensitive to light. The dropper with a black and gold cap measures out the required amount without spilling and without your fingers touching the contents. The bottle and the dropper share the same 18/410 neck finish and are supplied together, so you do not need to buy a closure separately or test whether it will seal. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Suitable uses

  • Facial serums – water-based and oil-based serums with active ingredients that are applied in small amounts. Dispensing by the drop prevents waste.
  • Facial and body oils – vegetable oils and their blends, where darker glass limits the effect of light on stability.
  • Essential oil blends – massage and aromatherapy blends diluted in a carrier oil, where the product is dispensed by the drop.
  • Beard, hair or nail oil – products that are applied locally and in a small volume.
  • Samples and small batches – a volume of 50 ml is enough for testing a formulation or for gift packaging of your own cosmetics.

How to use the set

The bottle is intended to be filled up to the nominal volume of 50 ml. The total brimful volume, that is, the physical volume up to the neck, is slightly larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when it is screwed in, and for the expansion of the liquid with changes in temperature. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted.

Dispensing is simple. Squeezing the bulb pushes out the air, the tube fills after the bulb is released, and individual drops are then released by gently squeezing it again. The length of the dropper is matched to the height of this bottle, so the tube also reaches the remaining contents at the bottom.

When filling, measure out 50 ml and leave free space above the surface. Screw in the dropper slowly so that the tube is immersed without pushing the contents out through the neck.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. The same procedure applies to repeated use, which the glass withstands without any problem.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Let a hot mixture cool before filling, and do not wash the bottle with boiling water straight after taking it out of the cold.

The dropper combines several materials: an aluminium collar, a silicone bulb, plastic parts and a glass tube. It works without difficulty with common facial oils and serums. With a high proportion of essential oils, or with alcohol-based and solvent-based blends, we recommend checking the seal and the behaviour of the bulb with your specific formulation before you fill the whole batch.

At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in glass recycling. Before disposal, the dropper is unscrewed and sorted separately because it is made of several materials.

The set is intended for cosmetics. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a certificate for contact with food, so it is not suitable for the kitchen or for herbal syrups.

Frequently asked questions

Does blue glass protect the contents of the bottle from light?
Yes, blue glass reduces the amount of light that reaches the contents, which slows down light-induced changes in oils and sensitive active ingredients. It is not a complete barrier, but compared with clear glass it does not expose the contents to the full light. It is still advisable to store the bottle away from direct sunlight and, for longer storage, preferably in the dark.
How much fits into a 50 ml glass bottle with dropper?
The bottle is intended to be filled with 50 ml, which is its nominal volume. Physically, slightly more fits in up to the neck, and this total volume is stated in the parameters. The reserve is there for the tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents. It should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume and never to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the dropper is fitted.
Can the glass bottle with dropper be reused, and how is it cleaned?
Yes, both the glass bottle and the dropper can be used again after cleaning. Rinse out any residue with warm water and a small amount of detergent, and flush the tube of the dropper by drawing in and expelling water. Then disinfect both parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to air dry. Before the next filling, check that the bulb is intact and still draws in properly.
Is the blue glass bottle with dropper suitable for both oils and water-based serums?
Yes, glass does not react with oil-based or water-based contents, so the bottle is suitable for facial oils, oil blends and water-based serums. With water-based products, the dropper is also an advantage because you do not touch the contents with your fingers. With blends that have a high proportion of essential oils or alcohol, we recommend checking the behaviour of the bulb and the seal with your specific formulation beforehand.
Is the glass bottle with dropper also suitable for food, for example kitchen oils?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. Neither the bottle nor the dropper has a certificate for food use, so it is suitable only for cosmetic products such as serums, facial oils or aromatherapy blends. For food use, choose packaging whose suitability for contact with food is stated in the parameters.
Can a closure other than the dropper be fitted on this glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has an 18/410 neck finish, and any closure with the same neck finish will fit it, for example a cap or a fine mist sprayer. Closures with this neck finish and ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When making your own combination, check the seal and the behaviour of the closure with your specific contents, especially with thin oils and alcohol-based blends.
