Product description

Glass bottle with black-gold dropper 50 ml is a complete set for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid cosmetics. The clear glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents, which you will appreciate especially with facial oils, serums and tinctures, where the appearance of the product is part of its presentation. The black-gold dropper gives the bottle a cohesive look that pairs well with both dark and light labels.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone has a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use.

What the set is suitable for

The 50 ml volume is practical for products used in small doses that are consumed over a period of several weeks to months. The dropper lets you take exactly as much as you need, without unnecessary contact of the contents with your hands.

  • Facial and hair oils – blends of vegetable oils, oil serums and hair-end oils are dispensed a few drops at a time directly into the palm.
  • Water-based and gel serums – lightweight serums with active ingredients, applied in small amounts to cleansed skin.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – the dropper makes it easy to measure the dose; glass is stable against alcohol.
  • Oil blends with essential oils – for example massage or aromatherapy blends that are diluted into a carrier oil.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is suitable for testing a formula before producing a larger quantity.

How the set works

The bottle has an 18 mm thread neck onto which the dropper screws. The dropper consists of a glass tube reaching into the contents, a silicone squeeze bulb and a black-gold ring that closes the set. When stored upright, the contents are in contact primarily with the glass.

The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the dropper reaches all the way to the bottom and you can use up the contents with almost no residue. To take a dose, squeeze the bulb, submerge the tip in the contents, release and squeeze the drops onto the desired area.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for during normal filling. Total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always higher. The difference provides headspace for the dropper tube, which when screwed in displaces some of the contents upwards, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The exact values of both volumes can be found in the parameters.

When filling, leave free space in the neck according to the difference between the nominal and total volume. If you overfill the bottle, the contents will overflow through the thread when the dropper is inserted and the closure will not seal.

What is good to know

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and the dropper, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Moisture in the packaging can compromise the stability of anhydrous products and promote microbial growth in aqueous formulations.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Products sensitive to light, such as oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, serums with vitamin C or retinoids, should be stored away from direct sunlight, in a box or cabinet.

Dropper and demanding contents. The glass tube is stable against oils, alcohol and essential oils. The silicone bulb and plastic parts do not normally come into contact with the contents, but with concentrated essential oils or solvents, verify the behaviour of the dropper in the specific formulation.

Reuse. The glass can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Replace the dropper when the silicone bulb loses its elasticity or the tube stops drawing evenly.

A transparent label also works well on clear glass, keeping the contents visible.

Other closures. The bottle can also be combined with other closures of the same neck type. Ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range; for your own combination, verify the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Recycling. Dispose of the empty, clean bottle in the glass recycling bin. The dropper combines several materials and does not belong in glass recycling.

Glass cannot withstand sudden temperature changes. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not move it from cold to heat directly, as it could crack.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear glass bottle with dropper protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is therefore suitable for formulations that are not light-sensitive, or for products stored in the dark, for example in a box or cabinet. For oils prone to oxidation and serums with vitamin C, amber or blue glass is the safer choice.
Is the 50 ml glass bottle with dropper suitable for food use?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic use. The glass bottle alone has a certificate for direct food contact; the black-gold dropper does not. If you need packaging for food use, combine the bottle with a closure that has declared food contact suitability.
How much liquid fits in the 50 ml glass bottle with dropper?
The bottle is intended to be filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml. Its total brim volume is higher, but the difference serves as headspace for the dropper tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The exact values of both volumes can be found in the parameters.
Can both water-based serum and oil be filled into the glass bottle with dropper?
Yes, glass is stable against aqueous, alcoholic and oil-based contents. With water-based and gel serums, ensure adequate preservation, as the dropper returns to the contents with each use. With thicker gels, verify that the tube can draw them up; the dropper is designed for liquid to mildly viscous products.
How to clean the dropper of the glass bottle before reuse?
Rinse the dropper several times by drawing in and squeezing out warm soapy water, then do the same with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to dry completely. Wash the bottle, disinfect with alcohol and dry. If the bulb has lost its elasticity or the tube no longer draws evenly, replace the dropper with a new one.
