Product description

The green glass medicine bottle, 15 ml, with a black safety dropper is used for precise dispensing of small quantities. The tinted glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so it suits facial serums, oil blends and concentrates that are added drop by drop and should not be exposed to light. The set consists of a medicine bottle and a dropper with a matching thread, so there is no need to look for a separate closure.

What it is suitable for

A volume of 15 ml corresponds to the quantity that is used up within a few weeks. It is therefore especially suitable for products with active ingredients that are sensitive to light and air.

  • Facial and oil serums – the dropper takes up exactly as much from the bottle as is applied to the face, without unnecessary contact between the contents and your fingers.
  • Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – dispensing drop by drop makes it easier to prepare recipes where small quantities matter.
  • Oils for cuticles, beard or hair ends – here too the tinted glass helps, protecting the contents from light.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume is enough to try out a new formulation before a larger quantity is made.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for contact with food, so do not use it for homemade oils or syrups.

How to work with the set

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a plastic closure with a thread and a silicone bulb. Squeezing the bulb draws up the contents, and releasing it dispenses them one drop at a time. The safety feature on the closure prevents accidental opening, for example during transport. Check how to release it before the first filling, so that you do not damage the closure during normal use.

Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume of 15 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between these values is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when the bottle is closed, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

When filling, leave free space in the neck and insert the dropper slowly. If the bottle were filled to the brim, the contents would run out through the thread after screwing on the closure and could get into the bulb.

The length of the dropper matches the height of the medicine bottle, so the contents at the bottom can also be drawn up. Store the bottle upright so that the contents do not remain in the silicone bulb.

Good to know

  • Preparation before the first filling – wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the bulb or tube could spoil an anhydrous product.
  • Reuse – the glass withstands thorough washing and repeated disinfection. Check the bulb of the dropper. If it has softened, become sticky or lost its elasticity, replace the dropper.
  • Glass and heat – do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle. Let the contents cool to room temperature first, as a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass.
  • Light – green glass reduces light but does not filter it out completely. Store products containing light-sensitive ingredients away from direct sunlight all the same.
  • Recycling – the medicine bottle is made of glass and, once cleaned, is recycled as glass. The dropper combines plastic, glass and silicone, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

You will find other closures with the same neck type, given in the parameters, and ready-made packaging and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 15 ml green glass medicine bottle with a dropper suitable for a vitamin C facial serum?
Yes, the green glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, and the dropper takes up the serum drop by drop without contact with your fingers. However, the glass does not filter out light completely, so keep the bottle away from sunlight. For ingredients sensitive to light and air, it is worth making smaller batches that are used up within a few weeks.
How much does the 15 ml glass medicine bottle with a dropper hold?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 15 ml. The brimful volume is larger and is given in the parameters, but this space is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle were filled to the brim, the contents would run out through the thread after closing.
How does the safety feature on the dropper of the glass medicine bottle work?
The safety feature prevents the closure from opening on its own or by accident, for example during transport. Before the first filling, try out how the closure is released, so that you do not damage the thread or the dropper during normal use. After filling, tighten the closure and store the bottle upright.
Can the glass medicine bottle with a dropper be used for an essential oil blend?
Yes, both the glass medicine bottle and the glass tube of the dropper are suitable for concentrated essential oils. However, the contents should not get into the silicone bulb, so store the bottle upright and do not squeeze the bulb while the bottle is tilted. Check the bulb regularly and replace the dropper if its elasticity changes.
How do I clean the glass medicine bottle with a dropper before reusing it?
Wash the bottle and the dropper in warm water with a cleaning product, rinse them and disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Rinse the glass tube by drawing the alcohol up and releasing it several times. Leave all parts to dry completely before filling the bottle with new contents.
