Product description
A small green glass vial with a 15 ml capacity and a black screw cap is a ready-made set prepared for immediate filling. Green glass partially reduces light penetration, making it suitable primarily for light- and oxidation-sensitive contents – facial serums, essential oil blends, small quantities of plant oils with active ingredients, or samples of fragrance compositions. Thanks to its small volume, it also works as a testing or travel bottle when you need to divide a larger batch into portions.
The set consists of a vial-shaped bottle and a plain black cap with the same thread type. The cap is made of polypropylene with an inner sealing insert made of foam polyethylene, which seals the neck when tightened and limits both leakage and air ingress. Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food use.
Key benefits
- Light protection – green glass lets through less light than clear glass, which helps slow the degradation of sensitive components such as essential oils, vitamins, or unsaturated plant oils. It is not complete protection, so store the contents away from direct sunlight regardless.
- Chemical resistance of glass – glass does not react with oils, alcohol, or most essential oils, and does not absorb scents. It is therefore also suitable for alcohol-based contents and concentrated blends that could soften plastic containers over time.
- Simple closure – the screw cap with a sealing insert can be opened and closed repeatedly without losing its seal, as long as the insert is not damaged.
- Small format – 15 ml is a practical volume for serums, samples, test batches, and preparations that are used up quickly and should not remain open for long.
- Ready-made combination – you do not need to select a closure by thread size; the bottle and cap are matched to each other and supplied together.
What the set is suitable for
It is best suited for liquid and oil-based contents that are dispensed by pouring or scooping: facial and hair oils, serums with active ingredients in an oil or water base, essential oil blends for aromatherapy, tinctures, alcohol extracts, or concentrated fragrance compositions. It is also suitable for samples for customers or for portioning raw materials from large packaging, to avoid opening the full quantity unnecessarily.
For thick creams and butters, the narrow neck of the vial is impractical. Thick contents are difficult to get out and contaminate the thread when scooping, so a jar is more suitable for creams, butters, and balms. A plain cap does not allow dropwise dispensing – if you need precise dosing, opt for a combination with a dropper. The bottle has an 18/410 thread, so closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range; for custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the container with a specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
For every container, we state two volumes. Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended during normal filling – that is, the quantity that actually belongs in it. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them forms a reserve for the closure, a possible dropper, and for the expansion of contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim; an overfilled container will overflow when the cap is tightened, and the contents will reach the thread, where they can bond the closure.
When filling oils and alcohol-based blends, leave an air gap in the neck. The contents expand during warmer storage, and a full bottle may leak through the thread when opened.
What is good to know
Before first filling, wash and disinfect both the bottle and the cap – rinsing with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving to dry completely upside down is sufficient. Residual water in the glass could cause cloudiness in oil-based and anhydrous contents, or promote microbial growth. Glass can be cleaned repeatedly and the bottle used multiple times. When reusing, check the sealing insert of the cap to see whether it is compressed, cracked, or saturated with the previous contents – the insert absorbs scent more easily than glass.
Glass tolerates normal filling temperatures, but not sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot phase into a cold bottle or vice versa – allow the container to reach approximately the same temperature first. The polypropylene cap handles essential oils well, but with prolonged contact with concentrated solvents, we recommend checking the condition of the insert.
Tighten the cap with moderate force only. Overtightening deforms the sealing insert, which worsens rather than improves the seal.
When no longer in use, glass goes into glass recycling and the cap into plastics; empty and rinse the container before disposal.
