Product description
A glass dropper bottle with a safety cap is a ready-made complete packaging and closure for small volumes of liquid cosmetics where precise dosing and protection of the contents from light are essential. Brown glass attenuates light, which accelerates oxidation of oils and degradation of sensitive active ingredients. The dropper dispenses the contents drop by drop without fully opening the bottle, and the safety cap prevents accidental opening.
A volume of 15 ml corresponds to the consumption of a serum or concentrate over several weeks, so the contents will not deteriorate before use. The kit is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is intended specifically for that purpose.
What the kit offers
- Protection from light – brown glass limits light penetration to the contents and helps extend the stability of oils, vitamins and other light-sensitive substances. It does not replace an antioxidant or preservative, but reduces one of the factors that cause them to degrade.
- Precise dosing – the glass dropper tube with a silicone bulb dispenses the contents drop by drop, so exactly as much is used as needed. With concentrated serums and essential oils, this also protects against overdosing.
- Safety cap – protects the contents during transport and against accidental opening at home.
- Glass with no odour memory – glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, does not absorb fragrances or dyes, so the bottle can be reused after thorough washing.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are dispensed without finger contact with the neck or the contents of the bottle, which reduces the risk of contamination in leave-on products without strong preservation.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended for regular filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper, which takes up part of the space in the neck once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Both values are listed in the product parameters.
Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is filled all the way to the neck, inserting the dropper will cause the contents to overflow through the thread, contaminating the cap and impairing the seal.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums and concentrates – water-based and oil-based serums with vitamins, peptides or plant extracts, dosed one or two drops at a time.
- Oil blends for the face, beard or cuticles – oils are subject to oxidation and a small volume in dark glass helps keep them fresh.
- Essential oil blends and fragrance concentrates – with highly concentrated blends, drop-by-drop dosing is essential.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts for cosmetic use – glass is resistant to alcohol.
- Samples and test batches – the small volume is practical for testing formulation stability or for customer samples.
For thick creams, butters or high-viscosity gels, the kit is not suitable – the dropper cannot draw them up. It is also not suitable for products applied in larger doses, such as body oils.
What to know when filling
Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle with warm water and a mild cleaning agent, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Moisture inside the bottle can become a breeding ground for microorganisms in anhydrous oil-based products. Rinse the dropper with clean water or alcohol and also allow to dry. Do not soak the silicone bulb in solvents for extended periods.
The glass dropper tube is fragile. Attach the cap straight to avoid the tube hitting the bottom or the side of the bottle when screwing on. If the bottle tips over, the contents can enter the bulb, so store it upright.
Pure essential oils, especially citrus ones, and concentrated solvents may affect the silicone bulb and plastic cap over time. With such contents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the kit on a single bottle over several weeks before filling a larger batch.
The bottle neck has a thread type specified in the parameters, and other caps and ready-made combinations for the same thread type are available in the Handymade range. When combining the bottle with a different cap, we recommend checking the seal and dosing with the specific formulation.
The glass bottle should be placed in glass recycling once empty and rinsed. The dropper is made of plastic, glass and silicone.
