Product description

The green glass bottle with inner dropper, 15 ml, is designed for precise dispensing of liquid preparations by the drop. It is supplied as a set: a green glass pharmaceutical bottle, a long plastic inner dropper that is pushed into the neck, and a black screw cap. Green glass filters part of the light, and the level of the contents remains visible through the wall. The 15 ml volume suits essential oil blends, oil serums for the face, nails or hair, tinctures, and oil samples that are used up quickly and dispensed precisely.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. It is not declared for contact with food.

What it is suitable for

  • Essential oil blends – diluted and undiluted compositions for aromatherapy, diffusers or further processing, where an exact number of drops matters.
  • Oil serums – face, nail and hair serums made from vegetable oils, from which the customer dispenses a few drops into the palm.
  • Tinctures and alcohol extracts – small quantities for testing recipes or for travel.
  • Samples and test batches – a volume at which a recipe can be tried without using large amounts of raw materials.

Filling and dispensing

The bottle has a nominal volume of 15 ml, that is, the volume it is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is larger and can be found in the parameters. The difference provides a reserve for the inner dropper, which takes up part of the space once it is pushed into the neck. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck.

Fill the bottle no higher than the nominal volume level and insert the inner dropper only after filling. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will be pushed out when the inner dropper is pressed in, and the cap will not seat properly.

The inner dropper is pressed firmly into the neck and the cap is screwed over it onto the 18/410 neck finish. To dispense, tilt or turn the bottle and the contents flow out drop by drop. It works best with liquids of lower viscosity, such as essential oils, alcohol solutions and lighter vegetable oils. Thicker oils drip more slowly, and serums thickened with gums are difficult to dispense with an inner dropper. For such formulations, it is worth choosing a different closure with the same neck finish for the pharmaceutical bottle.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash and rinse the glass and disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Disinfect the plastic inner dropper and the cap with alcohol. Leave all parts to dry completely so that no water gets into an oil or alcohol formulation.
  • Material of the parts – the inner dropper is made of polypropylene (PP) and the cap of polyethylene (PE). Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. With undiluted essential oils, strongly alcoholic contents and solvents, we recommend testing how the inner dropper behaves with the specific formulation, as it is in direct contact with the contents.
  • Light – green glass filters part of the light. For preparations that are very sensitive to light, for example oils with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, choose amber glass instead and store them out of direct sunlight.
  • Reuse – after washing and disinfection, the glass pharmaceutical bottle can be used again. Replace the inner dropper and cap if they have changed colour, taken on the odour of the previous contents or stopped sealing.
  • Heat – do not fill the glass with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, as it may crack.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck finish and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – glass goes into glass recycling; once separated, the inner dropper and cap go into plastics.

How well the set seals depends on the inner dropper being inserted correctly. If it is inserted crooked or only partly, the cap will not seat and the contents may leak during transport. After filling, turn the bottle upside down and check that it does not leak.

Frequently asked questions

Does the green glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly. Green glass filters part of the light, but it does not provide the same protection as amber glass. For ordinary oil serums, essential oil blends and tinctures stored out of direct sunlight, it is sufficient. For raw materials that oxidise quickly in light or lose their fragrance, we recommend amber glass or keeping the bottle in a box or cupboard.
How much does the 15 ml bottle with inner dropper actually hold?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml. The total brimful volume is larger and can be found in the parameters, but the difference serves as a reserve for the inserted inner dropper. If the bottle is filled to the neck, the contents are pushed out when the inner dropper is pressed in, the cap does not seat and the set does not seal.
Is the plastic inner dropper suitable for undiluted essential oils?
The polypropylene inner dropper is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is also used for essential oil blends. With undiluted essential oils and strongly alcoholic contents, we recommend testing how the inner dropper behaves with the specific formulation, as it is in permanent contact with the contents. If it changes colour, softens or takes on an odour over time, replace it with a new one.
Can thick oil or serum be dispensed with the inner dropper?
The inner dropper works best with liquids of lower viscosity, that is, essential oils, alcohol solutions and lighter vegetable oils. Thicker oils, such as castor oil, drip slowly, and serums thickened with gums practically do not flow through the inner dropper. For thick formulations, choose a different closure with the same neck finish for the pharmaceutical bottle.
Which cap fits the 15 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?
Closures with an 18/410 neck finish fit the pharmaceutical bottle. This set includes a black screw cap, which is screwed on over the inserted inner dropper. Other closures with the same neck finish and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
