Product description
The type B glass bottle with a black cap is a complete bottle and closure with a nominal volume of 100 ml, intended for storing and decanting liquid cosmetic products. Glass does not react with the contents and withstands oils and alcohol-based solutions, making the set suitable for aqueous, oil-based and alcohol-based products.
A plain screw cap does not dispense the contents: the bottle opens by the full neck and the contents are poured out. The set is therefore practical where the product is poured onto a cotton pad, into the palm of the hand or into a measuring cup, as well as for storing stock supplies during production.
What the set is suitable for
- Aqueous products – tonics, hydrolats and facial waters that are poured onto a cleansing pad or transferred to smaller containers.
- Oil-based products – massage, body and cleansing oils, oil macerates and blends of vegetable oils.
- Alcohol-based solutions – herbal tinctures and extracts for cosmetic use and stock solutions for production.
- Working supplies – pre-mixed phases, active ingredient solutions or samples that need to be tightly sealed and measured out later.
For products that are dispensed drop by drop or sprayed, a different type of closure is more suitable. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range.
Cap and seal
The cap is made of polypropylene (PP) and has a sealing insert made of expanded polyethylene (EPE). When tightened, the insert seats against the rim of the neck and seals the bottle. The cap only needs to be tightened by hand with care. Excessive force will not improve the seal and may deform the insert.
Glass withstands essential oils and alcohol; however, the sealing insert of the cap also comes into contact with the contents. For undiluted essential oils and strong solvents, we recommend testing long-term storage on a sample first.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling, in this case 100 ml. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the headspace for the closure and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and cap, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the container shortens the stability of anhydrous products in particular.
- Glass and heat – glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle, and when hot-filling it is advisable to pre-warm the bottle.
- Labelling – labels adhere best to dry, degreased glass.
- Contact with cosmetics and food – both the bottle and cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The glass bottle alone holds a food contact declaration; the complete set with this cap is intended for cosmetics as a whole.
- Sorting – the glass bottle and plastic cap are sorted separately.
Do not boil or dry the cap with hot air. Washing, sanitising with alcohol and allowing it to air-dry face down is sufficient.
