Product description

Glass bottle, green, black safety cap, 30 ml

An assembled 30 ml medicine bottle with a dropper insert and cap, ready to fill and close. The green glass partly filters the light reaching the contents, so it suits facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrates that are dispensed drop by drop. The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

The dropper insert in the neck releases the contents gradually and the safety cap holds it in place. This combination works well for active oils, blends with essential oils or alcohol extracts, where you want to control both the amount dispensed and the closure.

What the set includes

  • Glass medicine bottle, green, 30 ml – the body of the packaging with an 18/410 neck finish, into which the dropper insert is pressed.
  • Plastic dropper insert, short – a clear insert made of PP. It is pressed into the neck of the bottle and the contents flow out drop by drop when the bottle is tilted or gently tapped.
  • Plastic safety cap, black – a smooth closure that is screwed onto the thread over the dropper insert and holds it in place.

What it is suitable for

A volume of 30 ml corresponds to a common pack size for a facial serum or face oil that is used up within a few months. The dropper insert dispenses approximately the same amount each time, which you will appreciate with concentrated products where a few drops are enough. It is equally suitable for cuticle oil, beard oil, herbal tinctures or blends of essential oils in a carrier oil.

Aqueous solutions and hydrosols can also be filled into a dropper bottle, but thin liquids flow out of the dropper faster than oils. For products with a lower viscosity, it is worth testing the dispensing with the finished formulation before you fill a whole batch.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling, in this case 30 ml. The brimful volume is the physical capacity of the bottle up to the top of the neck. The difference between them leaves room for the dropper insert, which takes up part of the neck once pressed in, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. For this reason, fill only up to the nominal volume. If you filled it to the brim, the dropper insert would push the contents out and the cap would not seat tightly.

With oil blends, leave a little more space below the neck than the nominal volume alone would suggest. Oils expand slightly in a warm room or in a bag, and from a full bottle they are pushed out through the dropper insert.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, dropper insert and cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the dropper insert would get into an anhydrous oil and reduce its stability. Follow the same procedure for repeated use. After each cycle, it is worth checking the dropper insert and cap for cracked or deformed plastic.

Green glass filters part of the incident light, but it is not complete protection. Oils sensitive to oxidation and products with vitamin C or retinoids should be stored away from direct sunlight, even in a green bottle. When you need to protect the contents from light more effectively, choose amber glass.

The dropper insert is made of polypropylene (PP). For undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic behaves with your specific formulation before you fill a larger quantity.

The safety cap holds the dropper insert in the neck, but the insert itself seals only when it is pressed in all the way. After filling, check that it sits straight and that the bottle does not leak when turned upside down.

Closures with the same neck finish, as well as other ready-made bottle and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend testing the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The set is not approved for contact with food. The certificate applies to cosmetic products, so do not use the bottle for edible oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption.

The dropper insert and cap are easy to separate from the bottle, so you can sort the glass and plastic separately at the end of their life.

Frequently asked questions

Does the green glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Green glass filters part of the light, but it does not offer the same protection as amber glass. It suits oils and serums that are stored in a cupboard or in a bathroom away from the window. For ingredients that are highly sensitive to light, such as unstable forms of vitamin C or retinol, it is safer to choose amber glass and store the product in the dark.
How much liquid should I fill into a bottle with a dropper insert?
Fill only up to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. Above this mark the bottle has a reserve up to the top of the neck, which is taken up by the pressed-in dropper insert and which allows for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The brimful volume is given in the parameters. If you overfill, the contents are pushed out when the dropper insert is pressed in and the cap does not seat properly.
Can the bottle with a dropper insert be reused?
Yes, the set is designed for repeated filling. Wash the glass, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry. Clean the dropper insert and cap in the same way, and check at each cycle that the plastic is not cracked or discoloured. When switching between different fragrances, it is better to replace the dropper insert.
Is the dropper bottle suitable for both aqueous and oil-based products?
Yes, you can fill the bottle with oils, alcohol tinctures and aqueous solutions. The difference is in the dispensing: oils flow slowly from the short dropper insert, drop by drop, while thin aqueous products flow faster and the drops are less regular. Aqueous and hydrosol-based products also need a preservative, as the packaging alone does not protect them from microbial growth.
Which closures fit this bottle?
The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish, so all closures with the same neck finish fit, that is, caps, dropper inserts and sprayers in this size. The set is supplied with a short dropper insert and a black safety cap. If you replace it with another closure from the Handymade range, we recommend testing the tightness and dispensing with the finished product.
