Product description
Green glass bottle, black and gold fine mist sprayer, smoky overcap, 30 ml
A ready-made set for perfumes, eaux de toilette and fragrance sprays in a small size: a green glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 30 ml and a matching plastic fine mist sprayer in a glossy black and gold finish with a smoky overcap. The tinted glass filters out some of the light, so a fragrance composition or tonic is better protected than in a clear bottle. The fine mist dispenses the contents in small amounts without dripping. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
The 30 ml volume corresponds to a common size for an everyday perfume or a travel-size facial tonic, hydrosol or fragrance spray for hair and fabric. The bottle and the sprayer come as one unit, so there is no need to match the neck and closure separately.
What the set is suited for
- Perfumes and eaux de toilette – alcohol-based fragrance compositions of your own making. 30 ml is a sensible volume for trying out a new formulation as well as for small-scale sales.
- Facial tonics and hydrosols – thin water-based contents applied to the skin as a mist, for example a refreshing spray for your handbag.
- Fragrance sprays for hair and fabric – light alcohol-water mixtures that the sprayer disperses into a fine mist.
- Samples and gift packs – a dark glass medicine bottle with a glossy closure looks presentable even without further decoration.
The sprayer is designed for thin, water-based or alcohol-based liquids. Thicker contents, gels and pure vegetable oils spray poorly through the nozzle or not at all. A bottle with a dropper is more suitable for these.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides room for the tube and the lower part of the sprayer, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the closure is screwed on, or the seal will not sit properly.
How to work with the set
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the sprayer with clean alcohol and press it several times without liquid to remove any residue from the tube. Then pour in the contents up to the nominal volume, screw the sprayer onto the neck and place the smoky overcap on top.
The sprayer tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before fitting it, trim it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. A diagonal cut prevents the tube from becoming blocked when it touches the bottom, and the contents can be sprayed out almost to the last drop.
After filling, press the sprayer several times to prime it. The first two to three sprays are usually empty until the liquid travels up the tube to the nozzle.
The sprayer has both plastic and aluminium parts. For alcohol-based perfumes with a higher proportion of essential oils, or for contents containing solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the closure with your specific formulation: its tightness, the cleanness of the spray and whether the plastic parts change after several weeks.
Glass does not tolerate sudden changes in temperature well. Do not pour hot liquid into a cold bottle; let it cool to at least room temperature first.
Good to know
- Light protection – green glass filters out some of the light, but it is not opaque. Store perfumes and products with sensitive ingredients away from direct sunlight, even in this bottle.
- Reuse – the bottle withstands repeated washing and disinfection. The sprayer is harder to clean, so when changing the fragrance a new closure is the safer option.
- Cosmetics, not food – the set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Neither the bottle nor the sprayer has a food-contact certificate, so it is not used for syrups or edible oils.
- Other closures – if you want to use the bottle with a cap, a dropper or a different sprayer, choose closures in the Handymade range with the same neck type as stated in the bottle parameters. For your own combination, check the tightness and the dispensing.
- Waste sorting – the bottle belongs in glass recycling; the sprayer, with its plastic and aluminium parts, goes into plastics or mixed waste depending on what can be separated. Unscrew them from each other before disposal.
