Product description
A glass dropper bottle with a dropper and black tamper-evident cap is a complete drop-by-drop dispensing set. The amber glass bottle protects the contents from light, the short dropper in the neck releases the liquid gradually, and the tamper-evident cap shows whether the packaging has already been opened. The nominal volume of 10 ml is designed for small amounts of precious contents – essential oil blends, facial oils, concentrated serums, tinctures, or samples and testers dispensed one or two drops at a time.
The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle individually holds a certificate for direct food contact; the dropper and cap do not, so the set is intended for cosmetic and similar non-food use.
How the set works
Three parts serve three different roles and together form a functional package:
- Amber glass bottle – glass does not react with the contents and does not absorb scent, making it suitable for oils and alcohol-based solutions as well. The amber tint filters out light, which accelerates the oxidation of oils and the fading of essential oils.
- Short plastic dropper – it presses into the bottle neck and lets the contents through only a narrow opening. When the bottle is tilted, the liquid flows out drop by drop, without any additional tool and without the risk of spilling the entire contents.
- Black tamper-evident cap – seals the neck and has a security ring that separates from the cap upon first unscrewing. The user can see at a glance that no one has opened the packaging before them.
The dropper works reliably with liquid to slightly viscous contents. Thin essential oils, carrier oils, and aqueous or alcohol-based solutions flow through it evenly. Thick serums with a gel consistency or oil macerates with high viscosity may dispense slowly and unevenly. With such contents, we recommend testing the dropper's behaviour before bulk filling.
What the set is suitable for
Thanks to the small volume, light protection and precise dispensing, the set is particularly suitable for products such as:
- essential oil blends and aromatherapy concentrates, where every drop counts,
- facial oils and oil serums in travel or trial size packaging,
- tinctures and alcohol extracts, which benefit from dark glass,
- samples and testers for larger packaging or gift sets,
- oil perfumes and fragrance concentrates applied to specific points on the skin.
For emulsions and creams, the set is not practical – the dropper cannot dispense them, and such contents belong in a jar or a bottle with a dispensing pump.
Nominal and total volume
With every Handymade packaging, you will encounter two volumes. Nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is designed under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always larger. The difference between them is the headspace taken up by the pressed-in dropper, and at the same time room for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the dropper is pressed in, and the contents may leak under the cap.
Press the dropper into the neck only after filling, vertically and with even pressure, until it seats fully around the entire circumference. Then screw on the cap and check that the security ring remains intact – only then will the tamper seal remain functional for the end customer.
What is good to know before filling
Before first use, we recommend washing and disinfecting all three parts with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the neck or in the dropper would introduce moisture into the anhydrous oil content and could promote the growth of microorganisms.
Glass withstands heat and common disinfectants; the plastic parts are made of polypropylene. They are compatible with oils, alcohol and aqueous solutions. With concentrated essential oils and blends with a high proportion of citrus or spice oils, we recommend checking that the dropper and cap do not soften or change shape after several weeks.
The set can be used repeatedly. The dropper is removed after use, washed and disinfected in the same way as the bottle. The cap loses its tamper seal after first opening but otherwise continues to seal. When refilling for customers, we recommend a new cap to maintain tamper evidence.
The bottle neck has a thread specified in the product parameters. Caps with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle + cap combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.
Apply the label to the cylindrical part of the bottle, not over the neck or the cap – a label covering the seal would prevent it from detaching correctly.
At end of life, the glass bottle goes in the glass recycling and the plastic dropper and cap go in the plastics. Before disposal, simply separate the parts and rinse them.
