Product description

A clear 150 ml PET bottle and a clear disc top cap make a ready-to-use set for liquid and thicker cosmetic products that are dispensed by squeezing. The clear material shows the colour and the level of the contents. PET is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it suits the bathroom, the shower and travel. The bottle with a 24/410 neck finish and the cap are supplied together, so you do not need to look for and test a separate closure.

What it is suitable for

The disc top dispenses the contents with one hand, so the set is best suited to products that are used quickly and repeatedly:

  • Shower gels and liquid soaps – they are squeezed straight into the palm or onto a washcloth, and the closure is pressed back down after use.
  • Shampoos and conditioners – the 150 ml size corresponds to a travel or trial pack and, if you sell your products, it can serve as a sample of a larger pack.
  • Body lotions and light creams – a thicker consistency stays in the neck and does not run out by itself when the cap is opened.
  • Rinse-off masks and scrubs – a liquid or gel texture is applied straight from the bottle without scooping with your fingers.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. It is not intended for packaging food.

How it dispenses

A disc top cap is opened by pressing one side of the disc, which lifts the opening on the opposite side. The contents are then squeezed out by gently pressing the body of the bottle. To close it, simply press the raised part back down flat. The opening is relatively small, so the dose is easy to control and thin products do not run out all at once. With very thick creams or pastes, squeezing becomes difficult, and a jar is more suitable for such textures.

Both the closure and the bottle are clear, so the contents are visible along the whole height of the pack. If a product changes colour or turns cloudy over time, you will notice it with a clear pack without opening it.

Nominal and total volume

The 150 ml figure is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the closure, for the air in the neck and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle were filled up to the neck, the contents would get into the thread when the cap is screwed on, and the cap could leak.

Before the first filling, screw on the cap, open the disc and try squeezing the pack. You will quickly find out whether your formulation gives a suitable dose or is too thick for this type of closure.

Good to know

Before first use, wash the bottle and the cap, rinse them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The set can be used repeatedly if it is thoroughly cleaned between fillings.

PET is not hot-filled. Leave emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature and only then pour them into the bottle, otherwise the wall may deform. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, test how the material behaves on a sample, as plastic may soften or turn cloudy in such an environment. PET is suitable for ordinary water-based and emulsion products.

For your own formulations with alcohol, essential oils or an oil phase, leave the filled set to stand for several days and check the tightness of the disc and the condition of the plastic. The behaviour of the closure depends on the viscosity and composition of the specific product.

If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, all closures with a 24/410 neck finish from the Handymade range fit it, or you can choose a ready-made set with a fine mist sprayer or a pump. With your own combination, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP. When recycling, separate both parts and put them into the sorted plastics collection.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, a clear bottle does not block light. It suits products that are not light-sensitive, for example shower gels, shampoos or ordinary body lotions. For formulations with sensitive active ingredients, oxidising oils or natural dyes, choose an amber or opaque pack instead, or store the pack away from direct light.
What products is a disc top closure suitable for?
A disc top is designed for liquid and medium-thick products that are dispensed by squeezing: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps and body lotions. Very thin products, such as toners or hydrosols, run out of the small opening quickly, and a fine mist sprayer suits them better. Thick creams and butters are difficult to squeeze through a disc top, and a jar is more suitable for them.
Can the 150 ml plastic bottle with a disc top cap be used repeatedly?
Yes, the set can be used more than once. Before each new filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry. Check that the disc of the closure still seats properly and stays in the closed position after being pressed down. If the disc no longer holds or is damaged, replace the cap with a new one with the same 24/410 neck finish.
Can I pour massage oil or an alcohol-based product into a PET bottle?
With oils and alcohol-based products, a test on a sample is necessary. Ordinary vegetable oils do not damage PET, but a liquid oil runs out of a disc top closure quickly and is harder to dispense. Products with a higher content of alcohol or essential oils may affect the plastic over the long term, so leave the filled set to stand for several days and check the tightness and the appearance of the material.
Why is the 150 ml bottle not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 150 ml, and the space above it serves as a reserve. If it is filled to the brim, the contents get into the thread, seep through when the cap is screwed on, and have nowhere to expand when the temperature changes. If you fill up to the nominal volume, the closure sits on a clean thread and seals.
