Product description

A clear PET bottle with a volume of 150 ml and a black mini trigger sprayer with a glossy silver collar make up ready-to-use packaging for sprays and mists. The sprayer screws onto the 24/410 neck finish and the packaging is ready for filling. It is suitable for facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair sprays or alcohol-based preparations, that is, for low-viscosity contents that are applied in an even spray.

The clear bottle body shows the contents and the liquid level, so you can see how much product is left. PET is lightweight and unbreakable, so the packaging withstands everyday use in the bathroom, in a handbag and while travelling. The black head with a glossy collar gives the bottle a uniform look.

Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and have a declaration of conformity. The set is not intended for food.

How the set works

  • Mini trigger sprayer – when the head is pressed, it draws the liquid up through the tube and disperses it into fine droplets. One press releases a small dose, which is enough to apply a toner or mist to the face without dripping.
  • Clear PET body – it lets light through, but the contents are visible and you can easily check their clarity, cloudiness or sediment.
  • 24/410 neck finish – a common neck size onto which other closures with the same thread type from the Handymade range can be screwed later.
  • Volume 150 ml – a size for toners, hydrosols and mists for everyday use.

Filling and volume

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, that is, to 150 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is larger and provides a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents overflows when the sprayer is screwed on and the spray may leak after warming.

The sprayer tube is longer than the height of the bottle. Before first assembly, shorten it so that it reaches just to the bottom. An angled cut at the end helps to draw up even the last millilitres of the contents.

Before first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect the inside with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Then pump clean water through the sprayer several times to remove any alcohol residue from the tube and the nozzle.

Suitable contents

The sprayer works with liquids that have a viscosity close to water: hydrosols, toners, aqueous solutions of active ingredients, refreshing mists, hair sprays and alcohol-based preparations. The head does not draw up thick serums, gels or cream-consistency emulsions, or it disperses them unevenly. Try light oil contents and sprays with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents first in a small amount. PET does not tolerate aggressive chemicals and oil may clog the sprayer nozzle over time.

The packaging must not be filled with hot contents, as PET deforms at higher temperatures. Let the product cool to room temperature before filling.

A clear bottle does not protect the contents from light. Store products containing light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C, retinoids or citrus essential oils, away from direct sunlight, or choose dark packaging for them.

Good to know

Water-based contents, such as hydrosols and toners, require a preservative. A sprayer with a tube is not a closed system and air enters the bottle with every press.

The bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of polypropylene and aluminium. When recycling, separate them and sort each part according to its material.

You can find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I spray oil with the sprayer on this bottle?
The mini trigger sprayer is intended primarily for water-based and alcohol-based contents. You can try light oils, but the spray is usually coarser and the nozzle clogs over time with oils. The head does not draw up thick oils and serums. For oil sprays, first do a test with a small amount and check whether the dose changes.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through. The contents are easy to see, but products containing light-sensitive ingredients should be stored in this bottle in a dark place, or dark packaging should be chosen for them. For ordinary toners and hydrosols stored in a cabinet, a clear bottle is suitable.
How much liquid does one press of the sprayer release?
Approximately 0.12 ml per press. This amount is enough for a fine mist on the face or for dampening hair without dripping. The actual dose depends on the viscosity of the contents and on whether the tube is shortened correctly and reaches the bottom of the bottle.
Is the bottle and sprayer set suitable for food?
No. Neither the bottle nor the sprayer has a declaration of suitability for contact with food, so the set is not intended for edible oils, syrups or other food liquids. Both parts are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics and the set is intended for that purpose.
How do I fill the 150 ml bottle with a sprayer, to the brim or to the nominal volume?
To the nominal volume, that is, to 150 ml. A reserve must remain above the liquid level for the sprayer tube, for air and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents is pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on and the spray may leak.
Can the bottle with a sprayer be reused?
Yes. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry. Rinse the sprayer with warm water and spray it several times to remove residue of the previous product from the tube and the nozzle, otherwise it may clog or change the fragrance of the new contents. With alcohol-based or fragranced products, the fragrance may be retained in the sprayer, in which case it is better to use a new one.
