Product description

This clear PET plastic bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a flip top cap is designed for liquid and medium-thick cosmetic products that are dispensed repeatedly without unscrewing the cap: shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, facial toners and micellar water. The clear plastic shows the colour and the level of the contents, so you can see at a glance how much product is left. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, which suits the shower, travel and customer samples. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

How the set works

The PP cap screws onto the 24/410 neck finish and the lid opens with your thumb. You dispense the product by tilting the bottle and squeezing it gently. Once the lid is snapped shut, the opening is sealed and the contents stay protected from drying out and from dirt. This lets you dispense with one hand in the shower or at the sink, without looking for an unscrewed cap.

The amount that comes out depends on the thickness of the product. Watery toners and thin lotions flow easily, while thicker gel textures need a firmer squeeze. Thick creams and body butters pass through the opening of the flip top cap only with difficulty.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling, in this case 100 ml. The total brim-full volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is stated in the parameters. The difference between the two is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle spills when you close it and squeeze it, and the cap then does not seal properly.

What it is suitable for

  • Shower gels and shampoos – liquid rinse-off products that are dispensed by squeezing directly in the shower.
  • Body and facial lotions – light, low-viscosity emulsions that flow freely through the opening of the cap.
  • Toners and micellar waters – water-based products where the clear plastic shows the clarity as well as any cloudiness.
  • Massage and body oils – vegetable oils and their blends, applied in small amounts.
  • Samples and travel size – the 100 ml volume and unbreakable plastic make it easy to carry in a bag or make-up bag.

Good to know

The clear material does not protect the contents from light. Products with light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C, retinol or some essential oils, are better kept in an amber or blue bottle. A clear PET bottle suits formulations that are not affected by light, or those that are used up quickly.

PET does not tolerate high temperatures. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling, as a hot mixture can deform the bottle. Undiluted essential oils, solvents and aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic, so with such contents we recommend testing how the packaging behaves in advance.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the packaging dilutes the product and can compromise its microbiological stability. The same procedure applies when reusing the bottle, and you also need to rinse the hinge and the opening of the cap thoroughly, as residues collect there.

When filling a new formulation for the first time, fill one bottle and observe it for several days, both upright and lying on its side. This lets you check that the cap seals tightly and that the product flows through the opening in a reasonable amount.

The 24/410 neck finish also accepts other closures with the same neck type, which you can find in the Handymade range together with the ready-made combinations. For your own combination, we recommend testing the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. Both the PET bottle and the PP cap are recyclable plastics, and once empty you only need to rinse them.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. A clear bottle suits products that are not affected by light, for example shower gels, shampoos or toners without light-sensitive active ingredients. Formulations with vitamin C, retinol or a higher proportion of essential oils are better filled into amber or blue glass, or into opaque plastic.
How much product fits into a 100 ml bottle with a flip top cap?
The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml. Physically it holds more, and the total brim-full volume is stated in the parameters, but this difference is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents. If you fill to the brim, the product is pushed out when you close and squeeze the bottle, and the cap may stop sealing.
Is a PET bottle with a flip top cap suitable for oils?
Yes, the bottle can be used for vegetable oils and oil blends with a usual proportion of essential oils. However, undiluted essential oils, solvents and aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic, so with such contents we recommend testing the packaging in advance. Oil flows easily through the opening of the flip top cap, so dispense it by tilting the bottle slightly without squeezing hard.
Can a plastic bottle with a flip top cap be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be washed and refilled repeatedly. Rinse the packaging with warm water, not hot, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Pay attention to the opening and the hinge of the cap, where residues of the previous product remain. If the cap stops snapping shut firmly after repeated opening, it is time to replace it.
Is a flip top cap suitable for thick creams?
No, thick creams and body butters pass through the opening of a flip top cap with difficulty or not at all. The cap is designed for liquid and medium-thick products that are dispensed by tilting and gently squeezing the bottle: gels, lotions, toners and oils. A jar suits thick textures, and for medium-thick emulsions a pump with the same neck type may also be suitable.
