Product description
The white PET bottle with a black fine mist sprayer and a glossy gold collar is a ready-to-use set for water-based and thin cosmetic preparations that are applied by spraying. It suits facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing face and body sprays, hair sprays for easier combing or make-up removing waters. The bottle is made of PET, so it is lightweight and does not break like glass if dropped in the bathroom or in a handbag. The white bottle wall lets through less light than a clear bottle, which you will appreciate with preparations containing more sensitive ingredients, such as hydrosols or toners with plant extracts.
The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not have one. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic use.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial toners and hydrosols – the sprayer disperses the liquid into a fine mist. The skin is refreshed without a cotton pad and without unnecessary waste.
- Hair sprays – thin leave-in conditioners, sprays with hydrosols or preparations for easier combing are applied evenly along the lengths of the hair.
- Body and refreshing sprays – water-glycerine or water-alcohol sprays with a low fragrance content.
- Household sprays – a fragrance spray for textiles or interiors, provided the formulation is water-based and thin.
Thicker preparations, oils, gels or emulsions do not belong in the sprayer. The nozzle clogs quickly and the dose stops being even.
How the sprayer works
The black sprayer with a 24/410 neck finish has a dip tube that reaches the bottom of the bottle. This lets you use up the contents almost completely. One press releases a small, always identical dose in the form of a mist. The glossy gold collar is made of metal and, together with the white bottle, gives the packaging the look of a finished product, suitable for sale and as a gift.
The sprayer simply screws onto the neck of the bottle. Before first use, it is common to have to press it several times without any liquid coming out, until the tube fills and the mist starts coming out evenly.
Filling and volume
The stated 150 ml is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for with normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is larger. The difference is a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents may overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.
Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Moisture inside would dilute the contents and could impair their microbiological stability.
Good to know
- Preservation of the contents – the sprayer limits contact of the contents with hands, but water-based preparations still need a preservative. The packaging does not replace preservation.
- Reuse – the bottle and the sprayer can be used again after thorough washing and drying. Spray clean water through the sprayer several times so that no residues of the previous preparation remain in the nozzle.
- Changing the contents – when you replace a fragranced preparation with a different one, some of the fragrance may remain in the tube and nozzle. In that case, it is better to replace the sprayer or rinse it for longer.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck finish fit the bottle. You can find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you use your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and goes in the plastic recycling. The sprayer combines plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
Do not expose the plastic bottle to aggressive chemicals or high temperatures. Preparations with a higher content of essential oils, concentrated alcohol or solvents may cloud or soften the plastic over time. First test the behaviour of the packaging with such a formulation on a small sample.
