Product description

Ready-to-fill set for cosmetic sprays: a white plastic bottle with a nominal volume of 200 ml and a black mechanical sprayer with a shiny gold collar. Simply fill, screw on and apply the label. Suitable for liquid preparations applied as a fine mist: facial and hair tonics, hydrolats, refreshing body sprays, leave-in hair conditioners, spray deodorants, and textile or room fragrance sprays.

The white bottle is opaque, giving it a clean, uniform look regardless of the contents' colour. The plastic is lightweight and shatter-resistant, which is appreciated for bathroom, handbag or travel sprays. The black sprayer with its gold collar gives the packaging a contrasting look that pairs well with black, white or gold labels.

How the set works

The sprayer screws onto the bottle neck and the dip tube reaches the bottom, so the contents can be dispensed until completely used up without tipping the bottle. Each press releases a small, even dose dispersed into a fine mist, not a stream. The preparation is distributed over a larger area of skin or hair, and consumption is more economical than pouring into the palm.

The mechanical sprayer is designed for aqueous and aqueous-alcoholic liquids with low viscosity. The thicker the contents, the worse the spray performance. Thickened tonics, gels or emulsions clog in the nozzle, drip, or block the sprayer entirely. For such textures, pumps or flip-top caps for the same neck type are more suitable.

Before filling the entire batch, test the spray with a small amount of the finished preparation. If the mist is uneven or the nozzle drips, the contents are too thick for the mechanical sprayer. Adjust the formula or choose a different closure.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for during standard filling. The total volume up to the brim of the neck is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and the sprayer body, which after screwing on take up part of the internal space, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow through the neck when the dip tube is inserted.

Suitability for cosmetics and food

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Both the bottle and the sprayer have a declaration of conformity, which is available with the product. Only the bottle alone holds a certificate for direct contact with food. The sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is not intended for food use. We recommend it for cosmetic and technical sprays.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – rinse both the bottle and the sprayer with clean water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Pump the sprayer several times with pure alcohol to flush the dip tube and nozzle.
  • Aggressive chemicals – the packaging is not intended for aggressive solvents or pure essential oils. For fragrance and alcoholic sprays with a higher proportion of essential oils, verify the packaging's behaviour with the specific formula in advance.
  • Oily contents – pure oils cannot be dispersed into a mist by the mechanical sprayer and will only drip. Dry body oils for spraying must be thin, and even then it is advisable to test the dispensing in advance.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be refilled after thorough cleaning and disinfection. After finishing the first filling, flush the sprayer with warm water and alcohol to ensure no residues remain in the nozzle that could harden and block it.
  • Labelling – the smooth cylindrical body of the bottle holds a self-adhesive label well. Bottle dimensions can be found in the product specifications. Dark and gold prints stand out well against the white background.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and belongs in the plastic waste stream. The sprayer consists of plastic and an aluminium collar, so separate the bottle and the sprayer before disposal.

Closures with the same neck type as listed in the specifications, and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.

When shipping or packing in a suitcase, transport the bottle upright and secure the sprayer head against accidental pressing to prevent leakage.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white bottle is opaque and transmits significantly less light than clear plastic. For hydrolats, vitamin tonics or fragrance sprays this is an advantage, as light accelerates colour fading and the degradation of sensitive ingredients. It does not replace cool, dry storage, which applies to the contents regardless of the packaging.
Can oil or a thicker tonic be dispensed with the sprayer?
No, the mechanical sprayer is designed for thin aqueous and alcoholic liquids. Pure oil or a thickened tonic will not spray into a mist but will drip and may clog the nozzle. For thick textures and oils, pumps or caps with a dispensing opening for the same neck type are more suitable.
Is the bottle and sprayer set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer is declared suitable for cosmetics. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic and technical sprays, not for food infusions or syrups.
How are the bottle and sprayer cleaned before reuse?
Rinse the bottle with warm water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry upside down. Pump the sprayer several times with clean water and then with alcohol to flush the dip tube and nozzle. When changing fragrance or formula, thorough flushing is essential, otherwise residues from the previous filling will affect the new one.
Can the plastic bottle withstand essential oils in a fragrance spray?
At the concentrations typically used in fragrance and body sprays, yes. However, the packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals, and at high proportions of essential oils or with pure essential oils the plastic may cloud or soften over time. For strongly scented formulas, test the packaging's behaviour with the specific blend in advance.
