Product description
The white plastic bottle with fine mist sprayer, 150 ml, is a ready-made combination of packaging and closure for liquid cosmetic products that are applied as a spray. The PET bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, so it suits the bathroom, a handbag and travel. The white plastic hides the contents from view and limits the access of light, which you will appreciate with hydrosols, toners and products with sensitive ingredients. The fine mist sprayer with a silver matte collar gives the finished product a uniform look without any further fine-tuning.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own also has a certificate for direct food contact, whereas the fine mist sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What it is suitable for
The fine mist sprayer works best with thin liquids that can be dispersed into fine droplets. Typical uses:
- Facial toners and hydrosols – refreshing face sprays, make-up setting sprays, soothing after-sun sprays.
- Hair care – leave-in conditioner sprays, heat protection, detangling sprays, hair tonics.
- Alcohol-based products – hand refresh sprays, body sprays, scented waters with a lower alcohol content.
- Room and fabric sprays – fabric fragrance, air fresheners.
The fine mist sprayer does not disperse thick emulsions, gels and viscous oils evenly. For such contents, we recommend a different type of closure.
How the set works
The fine mist sprayer screws onto the 24/410 neck finish and releases approximately 0.12 ml of product as a fine mist with a single press. The dose is approximate and depends on the viscosity of the contents and on how hard you press. The dip tube reaches to the bottom of the bottle so that the contents can be used up without unnecessary residue. Before the first filling, check that the tube does not bend at the bottom. If it does, shorten it with a straight cut so that the suction is not interrupted.
Test the fine mist sprayer for leaks with the finished formulation, not with plain water. Products with a higher proportion of alcohol or oils behave differently. Lay the bottle on its side and leave it for several hours, or carry it in a bag as a test.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 150 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The volume up to the brim is larger, and the difference provides a reserve for the fine mist sprayer with its dip tube, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the fine mist sprayer is screwed on, and the contents get onto the thread, where they can dry and impair the seal.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the fine mist sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Rinse the fine mist sprayer by pressing it several times in clean water and then in ethanol, so that any residue is flushed out of the tube and the nozzle.
PET tolerates water-based and alcohol-based products and common cosmetic oils. Do not expose the packaging to aggressive chemicals or undiluted solvents. With higher concentrations of essential oils, we recommend testing how the packaging behaves on a small sample first. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents; let the product cool to room temperature before filling.
Rinse the fine mist sprayer after the bottle is empty. Dried residue in the nozzle is the most common cause of weak or uneven spraying.
When transporting the bottle in a handbag or luggage, place it so that the head cannot be pressed by accident, for example by wrapping it or standing it in a separate case.
The PET bottle belongs in sorted plastic waste. The fine mist sprayer combines polypropylene and an aluminium collar, so separate it from the bottle before recycling. When replacing the closure, look for closures with the same neck type. You can find ready-made packaging + closure combinations in the Handymade range, and if you make your own combination, we recommend checking it for leaks and testing the dispensing with your specific formulation.
