Use in formulation

The sprayer works reliably with thin, aqueous or mildly alcoholic liquids. Typical contents include tonics, hydrolats, facial and body mists, or hair sprays for detangling. The thinner the liquid, the finer the mist produced.

Thicker oils, serums with a higher proportion of thickeners, and emulsions do not dispense well through a mechanical sprayer. The mist turns into a stream, the nozzle clogs with residue, and the mechanism becomes harder to press. A bottle with a pump or dropper is more suitable for such products. Light dry oils can be sprayed, but the behaviour should be tested in advance with the specific formulation.

For alcohol-based preparations and formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend verifying the plastic's behaviour with the finished formulation. PET handles common cosmetic compositions well, but concentrated essential oils and solvents can damage the plastic or alter its appearance over time.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the quantity for which the bottle is designed under normal filling. The total volume to the top of the neck is greater, but this difference is not space for additional filling. It serves as a reserve for the sprayer, whose dip tube and mechanism displace some of the contents upward, and for the expansion of liquid with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents overflow when attaching the sprayer and the thread cannot be tightened properly.

What's good to know

• Preparation before first fill – we recommend rinsing and sanitising the bottle and sprayer before use with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and increase the risk of contamination.
• Sprayer dip tube – the dip tube is longer than the bottle. If it bends at the bottom, it can be trimmed with a diagonal cut so that it touches the base. The bottle will then empty almost completely.
• Priming – a new sprayer requires several presses before the tube fills and the mist stabilises. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.
• Refilling – the set is suitable for repeated filling, provided it is thoroughly cleaned and dried between fills.
• Labelling – the white bottle provides a good surface for both coloured and monochrome labels.
• Storage of filled bottles – protect the packaging from heat and direct sunlight. PET softens at higher temperatures and the bottle may deform.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and belongs in sorted plastic waste. The sprayer combines plastic with an aluminium collar; we recommend separating it from the bottle before disposal.
