Product description
A white plastic bottle with a smooth white cap with reducer, 250 ml, is a complete packaging and closure set ready for filling liquid cosmetic preparations. The cap is complemented by a reducer, an insert in the neck that narrows the opening and dispenses the contents in a thin stream instead of a wide pour. The white colouring of the plastic conceals the colour or any turbidity of the filling and limits light exposure to the contents.
The set is particularly suitable for tonics, facial and body waters, micellar waters, massage and body oils, hair rinses or liquid soaps, where you do not need a pump or sprayer and controlled pouring is sufficient. Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.
Key advantages of the set
- Reducer in the neck – the narrowed opening limits the amount that flows out with a single tilt and reduces the risk of spilling liquid preparations.
- Smooth white cap – the closure without ribbing looks clean, is easy to maintain and matches the white bottle, leaving the label as the main visual element.
- Lightweight PET – the bottle withstands drops in the bathroom and during transport and is significantly lighter than glass.
- Ready-made combination – the thread of the bottle and cap are matched to each other, so there is no need to test the tightness of different closures.
How the set works during filling and dosing
The bottle is filled with or without the reducer in place. When filling a larger number of units, it is more practical to insert the reducer only after filling. The narrow opening slows pouring and with thicker fillings an air bubble may form beneath it. After inserting the reducer, the cap simply screws on and the reducer remains in the neck even after unscrewing.
The reducer is designed for low to medium viscosity liquids. Aqueous solutions, tonics, hydrolates with a preservative or liquid oils flow smoothly. Thick body milks and creams pass through the narrowed opening slowly and require squeezing the bottle. For very thick textures, packaging with a wider neck or a pump is more suitable.
Before the first fill, wash the bottle and cap with reducer, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the reducer would get into the filling and place a burden on the preservation system.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity for which the bottle is intended for normal filling and corresponds to the information on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always larger. The difference constitutes a reserve for the reducer and cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling to the neck would cause part of the contents to be pushed out after inserting the reducer, with a risk of leakage under the cap.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial and body tonics – aqueous preparations with low viscosity, dispensed onto a cotton pad or into the palm.
- Massage and body oils – the reducer prevents a large amount of oil from pouring out at once, which matters with valuable oils.
- Micellar waters and make-up removers – the packaging is easy to hold with a wet hand and does not break when dropped in the sink.
- Hair rinses and liquid soaps – with a liquid consistency, simply tilt or gently squeeze the bottle.
- Bath oils and salts in solution – the white bottle conceals the colour of the filling and limits light exposure.
Good to know
Food contact. The food contact certification covers the bottle on its own. The cap with reducer is declared for cosmetic and technical use only, so the complete set is intended for cosmetic preparations. If you need packaging for household oils or syrups, choose a bottle with a closure that also has food contact certification.
Filling temperature. PET is not intended for hot filling. Allow emulsions and solutions prepared at high temperature to cool before filling.
Essential oils and solvents. PET tolerates standard cosmetic oils and aqueous solutions. With a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or other solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation on a test sample. Some components may soften the plastic or alter its surface over time. PET should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals at all.
Reuse. Both the bottle and the cap can be reused after washing and disinfection. The reducer must be removed and cleaned separately, as residues of the filling remain beneath it.
Labelling. The smooth cylindrical shape of the bottle is suitable for wraparound and front labels.
Other closures. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying tightness and dosing with the specific formulation.
Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP, both belong in sorted plastic waste.
Before dispatch, check that the reducer is pressed all the way in and the cap is tightened. A poorly seated reducer seals less effectively and when transported on its side, the contents may leak.
