Product description

White plastic bottle, 24/410, matte black cap, 250 ml

A ready-made set of a white PET bottle with a capacity of 250 ml and a matte black cap with a 24/410 thread is designed for filling standard bathroom cosmetics. The bottle and cap fit together, the set does not need to be assembled from two separate items, and after washing and disinfection it is ready for filling.

The white opaque wall limits light exposure to the contents and at the same time conceals the colour of the product and any gradual changes over time, which is particularly appreciated with emulsions and products containing natural extracts. PET is lightweight and shatterproof, so the bottle holds up well in the bathroom, in the shower and during shipping. The 250 ml capacity corresponds to a standard-sized shampoo, shower gel, body lotion or conditioner, and it works equally well for toner, massage oil or liquid soap. The plain screw cap gives the packaging a neutral look that does not compete with your own label.

Key features

  • Protection of contents from light – the white opaque design dampens light that accelerates the oxidation of oils and the fading of colorants; the contents are also not visible from outside, so minor changes in colour or turbidity of the product will not affect the impression of the packaging.
  • Lightweight and shatterproof material – a PET bottle weighs a fraction of a glass alternative and will not shatter if dropped, which is practical for products used in the shower and when shipping to customers.
  • Ready-made set – the bottle and cap share the same neck type, are supplied together, and there is no need to source or test the cap separately.
  • Screw cap without a dispenser – the contents are dispensed by pouring through the neck, which suits both liquid and thicker products that do not need to be measured drop by drop or in fixed doses.
  • Cosmetic-grade quality of both components – both the bottle and the cap are declared suitable for use with cosmetic products; declarations of conformity are included with the product.

What products is the set suitable for

Thanks to the capacity and the simple cap, the set is particularly suited to rinse-off products for the bathroom: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, conditioners and body scrubs that are dispensed by pouring into the palm. It works equally well for body lotions, facial waters and tonics or micellar waters, where you simply tilt the bottle onto a cotton pad. It is also suitable for massage and body oils based on vegetable oils, for which the opaque wall extends stability.

Products with a high proportion of essential oils, fragrance compositions, solvents or other aggressive ingredients are recommended to be tested on a sample before full-scale filling. PET and PP are common cosmetic packaging materials, but compatibility with a specific formulation depends on its composition and the concentration of these components.

For products that require precise dosing, such as thick creams or serums, it is advisable to choose a different type of closure with the same neck; the bottle itself supports this.

Nominal and total volume

For every container we distinguish two figures. The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is designed under normal filling conditions and which is stated on the label. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the cap, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling to the neck risks the contents being forced into the thread when the cap is screwed on, causing the cap to leak; for thicker products, also leave an extra margin for foam and bubbles to settle.

Preparation and filling

Before the first filling, we recommend washing both the bottle and the cap, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leaving them to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the container dilutes the product and unnecessarily burdens the preservative system.

Fill only with cooled contents. PET is not designed for hot filling, so allow emulsions, gels and soaps to cool to room temperature before bottling. After filling, tighten the cap by hand and check the seal by turning the bottle upside down and gently pressing the sides. For products intended for shipping, we recommend also testing the seal after a few days of storage on its side.

The bottle has a smooth cylindrical shape to which labels adhere well. Apply the label only to a dry and degreased surface.

Do not expose the bottle to hot contents, direct heat or aggressive chemicals. The PET wall deforms at high temperatures and concentrated solvents can damage the material.

Good to know

Food contact. The food contact certificate applies to the bottle individually; the cap does not have one. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics; we do not recommend it for home-made oils or syrups.

Choice of closure. Other closures with the same neck type also fit the bottle; ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation.

Reuse. Both the bottle and the cap can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. When changing products, make sure to remove fragrance residues that may linger in the plastic and affect the scent of the new contents. Check the cap to ensure the thread is not damaged and still provides a seal.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of PP; both materials are recyclable and the cap should be separated from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is the white 250 ml plastic bottle with a black cap suitable for food?
The set as a whole is not approved for food contact, as the certificate applies only to the bottle, not the cap. The white PET bottle on its own is declared suitable for direct food contact, but the set with the matte black cap is intended for cosmetic products such as shampoos, lotions and oils.
Does a white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white opaque wall of the bottle limits light exposure to the contents. It is not a complete barrier like a metal container, but for vegetable oils, emulsions and products with natural colorants it is significantly better protection than a clear container. It also conceals the colour of the product and any minor changes during use.
Can I fill the PET bottle with oil or a product containing essential oils?
Vegetable oils and standard cosmetic emulsions can be filled into a PET bottle. For products with a high concentration of essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking compatibility on a sample, as these components may affect the plastic on prolonged contact. It is the composition of the formulation that matters, not the product type itself.
Can the bottle and cap be reused and how should they be cleaned?
Yes, both the bottle and the cap can be reused. Before refilling, wash them, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow them to dry with the neck facing down. When changing products, bear in mind that fragrance residues may remain in the plastic, and check that the cap still seals after tightening.
How much product can actually be filled into a 250 ml bottle?
The bottle is designed for filling to the nominal volume of 250 ml; its total volume to the brim is somewhat larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the cap, for the air above the liquid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Filling to the brim is not recommended, as the contents would enter the thread and the cap would no longer seal.
Does any closure other than the included matte black cap fit the bottle?
Yes, other closures with the same neck type also fit the bottle; ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. When changing the closure, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation, as the viscosity and foaming properties of the product influence which closure works best.
