Product description

The transparent ZENISOAPBASE MAXI soap base is a ready-made foundation for soap making using the melt and pour method. You melt it, add color and fragrance, and pour it into a mold. No lye is required and the soap does not need to cure — once cooled and removed from the mold, it is ready to use. Suitable for solid soaps for hands, body and face for all skin types.

The term non-sweating means that the finished soap does not form moisture droplets on its surface under normal conditions, unlike standard glycerin bases. Soaps remain dry and clear even when displayed on a stand and do not need to be wrapped in film immediately after setting. The base contains no alcohol, silicones, parabens or formaldehyde and its donors. Supplied in a 1 kg package.

What the base offers in soap making

  • Clear base – colors remain vivid and translucent; embedded dried flowers, toys or pieces of colored soap are visible throughout the entire block.
  • Sweat resistance – the soap surface remains dry, which is appreciated by makers who display or sell unpackaged soaps.
  • Lather and cleansing effect – the base consists of sodium salts of fatty acids; lathering is supported by Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate.
  • Glycerín, sorbitol and sucrose – ingredients that give the base its transparency.
  • Free of fragrance allergens – the scent profile of the soap is determined solely by the composition you add.

Processing instructions

Cut the block into smaller cubes — they melt faster and more evenly. Melt in a double boiler or in a microwave in short intervals with occasional stirring. The recommended processing temperature is 65 – 75 °C. The melted base is colored, scented and immediately poured into silicone or plastic molds. Surface bubbles can be eliminated by spritzing with isopropyl alcohol. The soap sets at room temperature within a few hours; thinner pieces set sooner, leave larger blocks overnight.

After melting, cover the container with plastic wrap or a lid. This reduces water evaporation and the base retains its weight and an even consistency when pouring.

Colors, fragrances and additives

Water-soluble dyes work best in the transparent base, giving clean, glass-like shades; pearlescent micas sparkle visibly in the clear base. Water-insoluble pigments will cloud the base. Add fragrance to the melted and slightly cooled base shortly before pouring to prevent unnecessary evaporation. The amount of fragrance or essential oil is governed by the manufacturer's recommendation and IFRA limits for rinse-off products. When making layered soaps, pour the next layer only after the surface of the previous layer has set. Spritzing with isopropyl alcohol before pouring improves adhesion between layers.

Oils, butters, hydrosols or larger amounts of water do not belong in the base. They impair firmness, reduce lather and cloud the transparent base. Dried herbs, coffee or poppy seed in small amounts may be added just before pouring into the slightly thickened base; otherwise they will sink to the bottom.

Never boil the base. Above 75 °C water evaporates, the base thickens and pours poorly. An overheated base is better rescued by adding a fresh piece of base than by adding water.

What it is suitable for

  • Transparent and colored solid soaps for hands and body, including soaps with embedded decorations.
  • Facial soaps for everyday rinse-off care, where the base serves as a carrier and lathering component.
  • Gift and seasonal sets where it matters that the soap does not sweat during storage and display.
  • Creative workshops and courses where no lye is involved and the result is ready on the same day.
  • Combinations with white soap base for contrasting patterns, swirls and mosaics.

Good to know

The base is intended for rinse-off products. It has an anionic character, tolerates anionic surfactants and alkaline pH, which is consistent with standard soap formulations. Cationic ingredients, such as conditioning polymers, are not typical for this type of base — verify their behavior on a test piece.

Production is possible even in small batches. Weigh the cut base according to the mold volume; leftovers can be remelted, but each additional heating cycle means water loss and reduced flow. The base is not classified as hazardous under CLP regulations. When working with hot base, protect your hands from burns.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean that the ZENISOAPBASE MAXI soap base is non-sweating?
A non-sweating base produces soap that does not form moisture droplets on its surface under normal conditions. Standard glycerin bases attract moisture from the air, the soap sweats and needs to be wrapped as soon as possible. With a non-sweating base, the surface remains dry even when on display, which simplifies selling unpackaged soaps and preparing gift sets.
At what temperature does the ZENISOAPBASE MAXI soap base melt and process?
ZENISOAPBASE MAXI soap base is processed at 65 – 75 °C. Melt it in a double boiler or in a microwave in short intervals and do not let it boil. At higher temperatures water evaporates and the base thickens. Allow the base to cool briefly before adding fragrance so the scent does not evaporate.
Can fragrance oil and colorant be added to the ZENISOAPBASE transparent soap base?
Yes, the base is colorless and free of fragrance allergens — color and scent are determined by the soap maker. Water-soluble dyes and micas work best, giving vivid, translucent shades in the clear base. Fragrance oil dosage follows the manufacturer's recommendation and IFRA limits for rinse-off products; it is added to the melted base just before pouring.
Is ZENISOAPBASE MAXI soap base suitable for facial soap?
Yes, the base is intended for rinse-off soaps for hands, body and face and is suitable for all skin types. It contains no alcohol, silicones, parabens or fragrance allergens, so the overall composition of the facial soap is influenced only by the ingredients you add. For facial soap, choose a lower fragrance dosage and test compatibility on a small piece.
Can I add oil or herbal infusion to ZENISOAPBASE soap base?
Oils, butters and larger amounts of water or hydrosol do not belong in the base. They impair soap firmness, reduce lather and cloud the transparent base. If you want to enrich the soap, opt for dried herbs, coffee or a scrub in small quantities. Add them just before pouring into the slightly thickened base so they do not sink to the bottom of the mold.

REALLY TRANSPERENT — The base is very clear. It foams nicely and it is easy to use. A bit pricy though!
