Soap bases: melt & pour soap without hydroxide

A soap base is a finished, already saponified glycerine soap in a block — all the work with the caustic was done at the manufacturer's. The whole melt & pour process fits into one afternoon: cut the base into cubes, melt it in a water bath or in short bursts in the microwave, stir in colourant and fragrance, pour it into a mould and spritz the surface with alcohol against bubbles. Once set, turn the soap out — no calculators, no weeks of curing.

Clear, white or enriched?
