Product description

Silver aluminium bottle, clear mini trigger sprayer, 50 ml

The aluminium bottle with a volume of 50 ml and the mini trigger sprayer with a 24/410 neck finish make a ready-to-use set for toners, hydrosols and other thin cosmetic sprays. Aluminium is opaque and protects the contents from light. Unlike glass, the bottle does not break, so it copes well with being carried in a handbag or sports bag and with travelling. The clear sprayer head with a smooth collar lets the silver bottle stand out.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity for both components can be found with the product. This set is not intended for contact with food.

What it is suited for

The mini trigger sprayer works best with thin, watery contents that can be dispersed into a fine mist. One press releases approximately 0.3 ml. This set is therefore a good choice for:

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – the small volume and protection from light suit products that are used up within a few weeks.
  • Refreshing face and body sprays – aqueous solutions with glycerine, aloe or floral waters, applied from a greater distance.
  • Hair sprays – light liquids for smoothing, refreshing or scenting the hair.
  • Alcohol-based sprays – fragrance and body sprays; with these contents, we recommend checking the tightness of the closure and the stability of the dose in the finished product.
  • Travel size – the bottle does not break when dropped, and the sprayer head can be easily cleaned once the contents are used up.

Thick emulsions, gels and pure oils do not spray as well from a mini trigger sprayer and often come out as a stream rather than a mist. Packaging with a pump or a dropper from the Handymade range is more suitable for these textures.

Nominal and total volume

The figure of 50 ml indicates the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them provides room for the tube and the sprayer mechanism. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle could leak once the sprayer is screwed on.

The sprayer tube is longer than this bottle requires. After fitting, shorten it with sharp scissors using a diagonal cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. The sprayer will then draw up the contents down to the last millilitres, and the tube will not bend.

Good to know

Before the first filling, we recommend rinsing the bottle and the sprayer, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and, in unpreserved products, shorten their shelf life.

The bottle is made of aluminium with no further treatment described in the documentation, so with your own formulation we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with the specific contents. A short test of the filled bottle over several weeks will show whether the colour, scent or appearance of the contents changes.

The sprayer is made of polypropylene. With sprays containing a higher proportion of essential oils, check that the mechanism stays clear and that the sprayer head does not become sticky over time. Each time the contents run out, it is enough to rinse the sprayer with warm water and a little alcohol and spray it empty.

The set is intended for repeated use. When changing the contents, the original product is not topped up; the bottle is first emptied, washed and disinfected. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation.

Do not squeeze or deform the aluminium bottle to empty it faster. A deformed neck will stop sealing and the sprayer will not draw up the contents.

For recycling, the bottle is sorted as aluminium and the sprayer as plastic. Before disposal, it is enough to separate both parts and rinse the bottle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the aluminium bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, aluminium is opaque, so neither daylight nor UV radiation reaches the contents. Amber or blue glass only dims the light, whereas aluminium blocks it completely. This is useful for hydrosols, toners with vitamins and fragrance sprays, whose ingredients break down faster in light.
Can the aluminium bottle with a sprayer be filled with oil?
Pure oil does not spray well from a mini trigger sprayer and comes out as a stream rather than a mist. The set is intended for aqueous, alcohol-based and similarly thin liquids. If you need to dispense oil, choose a bottle with a pump or a dropper. Light oil sprays with a high proportion of alcohol or esters should be tested in the filled set beforehand.
How much liquid fits into the 50 ml aluminium bottle?
The bottle is designed for a nominal volume of 50 ml and is filled to that volume, not to the brim. The total brimful volume is larger and can be found in the product parameters. The difference serves as room for the tube and the sprayer mechanism. If filled to the brim, part of the contents would be forced out when the sprayer is screwed on.
Is the mini trigger sprayer suitable for alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, a polypropylene sprayer is commonly used for fragrance and body sprays containing ethanol. However, we recommend checking the tightness of the thread and the evenness of the dose in the finished product, because alcohol evaporates faster if the closure is not tight. For each new composition, a short test of the filled set is enough.
How do I clean the aluminium bottle with a sprayer before reusing it?
Empty the bottle, rinse it with warm water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Rinse the sprayer by dipping the tube into warm water with a little alcohol and spraying several times, then spray it empty. Water and alcohol are enough for routine cleaning.
Why is the sprayer tube longer than the bottle?
The mini trigger sprayer is supplied with a universal tube length so that it fits bottles of different heights with the same 24/410 neck. For this 50 ml bottle, shorten the tube with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom. If it stays long, it will bend, stick to the wall and the sprayer will draw up the contents unevenly.
