Product description
The aluminium bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a matte white and gold pump is ready-to-use packaging for body lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos and massage oils. The opaque metal wall protects the contents from light, and the bottle is lightweight and does not break when dropped, so it holds up in the bathroom, in the salon and on the go. The pump releases the same amount with every press, and the contents do not come into contact with your hands during dispensing. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the set is suited for
The pump works best with liquid and medium-thick formulations that the dip tube can draw up without difficulty. Suitable examples include:
- Body lotions and light balms – low-viscosity O/W emulsions that dispense without running down the neck.
- Liquid soaps and shower gels – you can take a dose with one hand, which is useful at the sink or in the shower.
- Shampoos – the opaque bottle protects formulations containing plant extracts and colorants that are sensitive to light.
- Massage and body oils – the pump delivers a measured amount, so the oil does not spill and you do not dispense more than needed.
Very thick creams, butters and formulations with particles are difficult to draw through the pump or may clog the dip tube. Jars or containers are more suitable for them.
How the packaging works
Both the bottle and the pump have a 24/410 neck finish. The pump screws directly onto the neck and seals once tightened. One press releases approximately 1.3 ml, which for a body lotion corresponds to a dose for the hands or forearm, and for a liquid soap to one wash.
The dip tube of the pump is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before the first assembly, shorten it so that it reaches just above the bottom and the pump can empty the contents down to the last millilitres.
Shorten the dip tube with a sharp knife or scissors using a diagonal cut. A diagonally cut end does not stick to the bottom of the bottle, and the pump draws up the contents even when only a little is left.
The silver surface of the bottle and the matte white and gold pump make a colour-neutral combination.
Nominal volume and brimful capacity
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dip tube and the inner part of the pump, which take up some of the space once screwed on. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it to the neck, the contents are pushed out when the pump is fitted and the outside of the bottle gets dirty.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Moisture remaining in the dip tube or in the body of the pump would get into the finished product. For repeated use, rinse the pump with warm water and a cleaning product, and press it several times to push out the remains of the previous contents. Dried oil or emulsion in the mechanism will block the pump, so clean the packaging immediately after it is emptied.
For formulations with a strongly acidic or alkaline pH, for alcohol-based formulations and for products with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bottle and the plastic parts of the pump with your specific formulation before filling a larger batch.
The set is intended for cosmetics. It is not approved for contact with food, so do not use it for homemade oils, syrups or other food products.
The pump is made of several materials (plastic, metal, glass), while the bottle is made of aluminium. For recycling, therefore, put the bottle with metal packaging and sort the pump separately. The bottle with a 24/410 neck finish can also be used with other closures with the same neck type from the Handymade range. If you combine them yourself, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
