A complete set for oil-based preparations sensitive to light: aluminium bottle 200 ml with a screw-on aluminium cap. Aluminium blocks out light completely, is lightweight and will not shatter on impact. Suitable for body and massage oils, oily hair and skin serums, and for thicker liquids dispensed by pouring, such as shower oils. The cap closes the bottle securely and without a dispensing mechanism, so the set serves as a storage, travel or gift bottle into which the contents are poured directly.

Both components are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for contact with foodstuffs, so it is not used for cooking oils or syrups.

Why choose an aluminium bottle

• Light protection – aluminium lets no light through, which is valuable for oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, formulations with essential oils and active ingredients sensitive to UV radiation. Compared to clear or amber glass, the shielding is complete.
• Low weight and durability – the bottle weighs a fraction of a glass bottle of the same volume and will not shatter. Suitable for the bathroom, travel luggage and shipping.
• Simple closure – the screw-on aluminium cap features an inner polyethylene foam sealing insert (EPE) that seats against the neck and prevents the contents from leaking when tilted or during transport.
• Consistent appearance – the silver surface of both the bottle and cap looks clean and holds a label or print well, making the set suitable for own product lines.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle is designed to be filled with 200 ml of content. The total volume of the bottle up to the rim of the neck is slightly larger. This difference is not a defect, but headspace: room for air above the liquid, for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, and for safely screwing on the cap without the contents spilling. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What to know when filling

Before first use, rinse both the bottle and cap, if necessary disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Unlike glass, you cannot see residual water inside an aluminium bottle, so stand the bottle neck-down and allow it to dry for longer.

Aluminium is a metal that reacts with both acidic and alkaline environments. With oil-based and anhydrous formulations this is not an issue. With aqueous products, tonics with a low pH, formulations with a high electrolyte content or with alkaline cleaning agents, we recommend testing the container with the specific formulation in advance, ideally by leaving one bottle for several weeks.

The bottle has thin walls and will permanently deform under strong pressure; aluminium does not return to its original shape the way PET does. It is therefore not designed for squeeze dispensing; the contents are poured or applied to the hand.

Tighten the cap with moderate force. The sealing insert seats with light tightening; excessive force compresses the insert and causes it to wear more quickly with repeated opening.

Any closure with the same neck finish 24/410 from the Handymade range fits the bottle; ready-made combinations can be found among the sets. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing behaviour with the specific formulation.

Suitable for products such as

• Body and massage oils – unsaturated oils yellow quickly in light and the 200 ml volume corresponds to a standard body oil size.
• Hair oil treatments and serums – poured into the palm, a solid cap is sufficient.
• Shower and bath oils – the durable bottle withstands a drop in the shower; contents are dispensed by pouring.
• Storage bottles for semi-finished products – blends of carrier oils, macerates or finished oil bases that are later transferred into smaller containers.
• Travel and gift packaging – low weight and shatterproofness are advantages both in luggage and when shipping.

The set also has technical-grade quality, so it can be used for non-cosmetic liquids in a workshop or household, provided the sensitivity of aluminium to acids and alkalis is respected.

Reuse and recycling

The bottle can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. With oils, it is worth washing it with warm water and detergent and drying it completely; residues of old oil would otherwise accelerate yellowing of the new contents. Check the cap's sealing insert before each refill to ensure it is not compressed or saturated. Aluminium is fully recyclable; the empty and cleaned bottle and cap belong in metal waste collection.
