Amber Glass Bottle, Black Fine Mist Sprayer, Smoky Overcap, 100 ml

The amber glass 100 ml medicine bottle with a black fine mist sprayer makes ready-to-use packaging for toners, facial mists, hydrosols, hair sprays and other thin liquids that are applied by spraying. Amber glass filters light, so it is better suited to contents with sensitive ingredients, such as essential oils or plant extracts. The sprayer is covered by a smoky overcap, which protects the nozzle from dust and accidental pressing when carried.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

How the set works

The bottle has a medicine bottle shape with straight walls and a threaded neck onto which the sprayer is screwed. The dip tube reaches the bottom, so the contents can be sprayed almost to the end without tilting the bottle. One press releases approximately 0.12 ml of liquid. This amount is enough to mist the face, décolleté or hair evenly without running down the skin. The black sprayer and the clear smoky overcap match the amber glass, so the set also suits a uniformly styled product range.

What it is suitable for

• Facial toners and hydrosols – water-based liquids without thickeners are the most suitable for the sprayer. The mist disperses evenly and the nozzle does not clog.
• Facial and body mists – light setting or refreshing sprays, for example with glycerine or water-soluble active ingredients.
• Hair sprays – thin leave-in conditioners and treatments that are applied to the lengths of the hair.
• Alcohol-based products – perfumed waters, colognes, refreshing sprays containing alcohol, or room and textile fragrances.
• Volume for everyday use – 100 ml is a common size for a dressing table or bathroom, and it also fits into carry-on luggage on a plane.

We do not recommend the set for oils, oil serums and thick gels. The fine mist sprayer does not disperse them into a mist; they come out in a stream or the nozzle becomes clogged. For such contents, a medicine bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the lower part of the sprayer, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and also for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume. If the bottle were filled to the brim, part of the contents would be pushed out when the sprayer is fitted.

Good to know

• Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle with warm water, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with ethanol, spray it several times and leave it to drain.
• Glass and heat – do not pour hot mixtures into the bottle and avoid sudden changes in temperature, for example moving it from the fridge under hot water. The glass may crack.
• Sprayer and composition of the contents – for products with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, or with concentrated alcohol, we recommend testing the behaviour of the sprayer on a small sample. Check the tightness of the thread and whether the mist stays uniform even after several days.
• Nozzle clogging – filter solutions with undissolved particles, residues of plant material or added gum before filling. The nozzle will not let thickened contents through.
• Reuse – the glass bottle can be refilled repeatedly after washing and disinfection. After emptying, spray clean water through the sprayer so that no residue of the contents dries in the tube. It is worth replacing a clogged or worn sprayer with a new one.
• Other closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
• Recycling – at the end of its life, separate the sprayer from the bottle. The glass belongs in glass recycling, and the polypropylene sprayer in plastics.
