Amber Glass Bottle, Glossy White Dropper, 5 ml

This amber glass medicine bottle with a white glossy dropper is used to store and dispense small amounts of liquid preparations that are applied by the drop. The amber glass filters light and protects contents that could spoil if exposed to daylight for a longer time. The dropper lets you take exactly as much as you need for a formulation or for the skin. The bottle and the closure are supplied together, so the packaging can be filled and closed straight away.

What it is suitable for

• Serums and concentrates – the small volume and drop-by-drop dispensing match how face and eye-area serums are used. The contents are used up before they have time to stand open for long.
• Essential oil blends – amber glass is the usual packaging for essential oils and their blends. The dropper makes it easier to count out drops into a diffuser, massage oil or soap.
• Samples and test batches – when developing a formulation, you can fill 5 ml and test the product yourself or let a customer try it, without filling a larger package.
• Nail and cuticle oils – a drop is applied straight from the dropper, without spilling and without the fingers touching the contents.
• High-concentration facial oils – more expensive oils and oil extracts that are used by the drop are worth packing in a smaller volume.

Dropper and dispensing

The closure consists of a white glossy threaded collar, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, so the contents can be drawn up even when the level is low. A glass tube is easy to wash and does not stain from coloured oils or tinctures as easily as plastic. To dispense, squeeze the bulb, dip the tube into the contents, release, and then squeeze the drops out where they belong.

The dropper handles liquids of low to medium viscosity. It does not draw up thick oils, gels or creams, or it dispenses them unevenly. For such contents, we recommend choosing a different type of closure.

Volume and filling

The medicine bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 5 ml, that is, the volume the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is stated in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which displaces part of the volume when closed, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. If the bottle is filled right up to the neck, the contents overflow when the dropper is inserted and soil the thread.

Good to know

• Before the first filling – we recommend washing the bottle and the dropper, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. Traces of water in the glass tube would get into an anhydrous formulation.
• Temperature of the contents – fill the glass medicine bottle with a preparation that has cooled to room temperature. A sudden temperature difference can damage the glass.
• Reuse – after washing and disinfection, the bottle can be used again. With the dropper, check that the bulb keeps its shape and the tube is not cracked, otherwise the closure will not dispense correctly.
• Other closures – closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
• Suitability for cosmetics – the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product.
• Recycling – the bottle is made of glass and belongs in glass waste. The dropper consists of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
