Product description
Glass bottle, vial, aluminium cap, 5 ml
Brown glass vial 5 ml with aluminium cap is a complete packaging and closure set for samples, testers and small doses of concentrated products. Brown glass protects the contents from light, and glass itself is chemically neutral — it does not absorb fragrances or colour. That is why the set is particularly well suited for essential oil blends, fragrance oils, facial serums and oil concentrates. The cap with a sealing liner closes the packaging securely for both storage and transport.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not approved for contact with food, and is therefore intended exclusively for cosmetic and technical use.
Key benefits
- Light protection – brown glass transmits significantly less light than clear glass, which helps slow down oxidation and scent changes in sensitive contents, particularly essential oils and fragrance oils.
- Chemically neutral material – glass does not react with alcohol, oils or fragrance components. The contents retain their original character and the packaging can be reused after washing.
- Aluminium cap with sealing liner – the foam polyethylene liner seats onto the neck when tightened and prevents leakage. Aluminium does not absorb and looks neat even without a label.
- Small volume for precise doses – 5 ml is enough for a sample, travel pack or single-use quantity of concentrate, where a larger container would mean unnecessary air contact.
- Consistent neck type – the vial has a standard thread type listed in the product specifications, so it can be combined with other closures from the Handymade range with the same neck.
Suitable for products such as
The set works best when the content is concentrated and light-sensitive and dispensed in small quantities:
- samples and testers of facial serums, facial oils and oil concentrates,
- essential oil blends, fragrance oils and aromatic concentrates for aromatherapy or diffusers,
- small-batch alcohol tinctures and extracts,
- raw material samples for customers or internal stability testing.
For water-based products without preservation (tonics, hydrolats) the packaging is materially suitable. With such contents, however, hygiene during filling and a short period of use after opening are essential.
Nominal volume and total volume
For every container we list two volume values. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for during normal filling, in this case 5 ml. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them is the headspace: room for the cap and seal to seat, for the contents to expand with temperature changes, and for comfortable dispensing without overflow. Both values can be found in the product specifications.
Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim of the neck. When filled to the brim, the contents reach the thread, the sealing liner cannot seat correctly and the vial may leak during transport.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing and sanitising the vial and cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol before use, then leaving them to dry completely. Residual water in the container reduces the stability of oil-based and anhydrous products.
Dispensing. The aluminium cap is a simple screw closure with no dispensing element — the contents are poured from the vial. If you need to dispense drop by drop, Handymade offers closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations with a dropper. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
Tightening the cap. Aluminium is softer than plastic. Hand-tighten the cap just enough for the liner to seat. Excessive force can deform the cap thread, which tends to worsen the seal rather than improve it.
Sealing and concentrated contents. The cap liner is made of foam polyethylene and performs reliably with standard cosmetic contents. For long-term storage of concentrated essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the condition of the seal periodically.
Glass and temperature. The container is not suitable for filling hot materials directly from a water bath or for sudden temperature changes. Allow the product to cool to approximately room temperature before filling.
Labelling. Standard self-adhesive labels adhere well to brown glass. For the small diameter of the vial, narrower labels or hang tags work well.
Vial is a term describing the shape of the container, not its purpose. The set is intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food or medicines.
