Product description
The glass 10 ml dropper bottle with a black dropper is a ready-made set for filling small volumes that are dosed drop by drop. Amber glass dims light and protects contents sensitive to UV radiation. The dropper lets you take exactly as much as you need without touching the neck. The set is particularly suited to facial serums, facial and hair oils and blends of essential oils, to alcohol-based tinctures, concentrates of active substances or samples of larger products.
Both the bottle and the dropper are suitable for contact with cosmetic products. A certificate for direct food contact is held separately by the glass bottle; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
Why amber glass and a dropper
- Protection from light – amber glass lets through considerably less light than clear glass. This slows the oxidation of oils, the fading of natural colourants and the breakdown of sensitive active substances such as vitamin C, retinol or undiluted essential oils.
- Precise dosing – the dropper takes only the amount needed, while the rest of the contents stays in the bottle without needless contact with air and fingers. With serums, where every drop counts, this is an advantage.
- Chemical resistance of glass – glass does not react with oils, essential oils or alcohol and does not take on odour. After washing, the bottle can be used for another fragrance composition.
- Uniform appearance – the matte black dropper head with a glossy stripe suits the dark glass and both light and dark labels.
How the set works
The dropper consists of a threaded head made of polypropylene, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. Its length is matched to the height of the bottle so that even the remainder at the bottom can be drawn up. Squeezing the bulb draws in the contents; slowly releasing the pressure dispenses drops. The head screws onto the neck of the bottle and holds firmly when tightened. We recommend verifying the seal during transport with your specific formulation, especially with thin oils and alcohol-based solutions.
The nominal volume of 10 ml is the amount the container is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is larger, being the physical volume up to the neck. The difference forms a reserve for the dropper tube, which pushes out part of the contents once screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents as the temperature changes. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents overflow across the thread when the dropper is attached.
When filling thicker serums and gel textures, leave the level a few millimetres below the neck. When screwed in, the dropper pushes out air and part of the contents, and the excess would remain on the thread, where it sticks and reduces the tightness of the closure.
Suitable for products such as
- facial serums on a water or oil base, dosed drop by drop onto the palm or directly onto the skin,
- facial and hair oils, beard oils and cuticle oils,
- blends of essential oils, perfume oils and fragrance compositions, where dark glass slows changes in scent,
- alcohol-based tinctures and extracts,
- samples, testers and travel-size packaging of larger products.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle with warm water, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely with the neck down. The dropper simply needs rinsing with alcohol a few times by drawing it in and squirting it out, and then drying with the head up so that no moisture remains in the bulb.
Reuse is no problem with glass; the bottle can be washed and even boiled. When changing the contents, do not combine water-based and oil-based products without thorough drying. Residual water in an oil serum shortens its stability. The silicone bulb withstands repeated filling, but with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils, especially citrus ones, it may soften or swell. We recommend checking its condition from time to time and replacing the dropper if it changes.
Glass and heat: amber glass tolerates hot water during washing, but not a sudden change of temperature. Do not pour hot contents directly into a cold bottle. Let it cool first at least to room temperature, which also benefits the active substances.
For oil products, a label with durable adhesive proves its worth, because oil running down the neck will in time peel off a paper label.
Recycling: the bottle is made of glass and, once used up, is recycled as glass. The dropper combines plastic, silicone and a glass tube, so it does not belong with glass.
When shipping or travelling, tighten the dropper and transport the bottle with the head up. Thin oils and alcohol-based solutions may slowly seep through the dropper bulb if the bottle is laid on its side.
