Amber Glass Bottle, Type B, Slim, Black Tamper Evident Dropper, 10 ml

This glass medicine bottle with a black dropper, 10 ml, is used for filling small volumes of liquid preparations that are dispensed drop by drop: facial and oil serums, blends of essential oils, tinctures, concentrated active ingredients or samples for testing a formulation. The amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so it suits ingredients that are sensitive to oxidation, for example vegetable oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, or serums containing vitamin C. It is supplied as a ready-made set: a tall type B bottle and a dropper with a tamper-evident ring, so you do not need to source a closure separately.

What it is suitable for

• Facial and oil serums – the dropper lets you apply just a few drops precisely, without your fingers touching the contents, which is useful for leave-on products with weaker preservation.
• Essential oil blends and fragrance compositions – a small volume and dark glass are a common choice for concentrated fragrance ingredients. Dispensing drop by drop matches the way essential oils are measured into formulations.
• Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with ethanol, and when you tilt the bottle towards the light you can see the contents.
• Samples and test batches – 10 ml holds enough to check the fragrance, colour or stability before you make a larger volume.
• Nail, lip or beard care – oil-based products of which only a few drops are used at a time.

How to work with the set

The dropper has a glass tube, a squeezable head made of silicone and a plastic closure made of PP, which screws onto the neck of the bottle. The tamper-evident ring separates from the closure when the bottle is opened for the first time and stays on the neck, so the customer can see straight away whether the product has already been opened. Once opened, the dropper continues to serve as an ordinary dispensing closure.

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the amount the medicine bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the rim of the neck. The difference between the two leaves room for the glass tube of the dropper, which takes up part of the space once screwed in, and for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents overflow through the neck when the dropper is inserted and soil the thread.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the medicine bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Drying is especially important for anhydrous oils and for serums without a preservative, where traces of water could spoil the contents.

The glass withstands washing in hot water and repeated use, and so does the glass tube of the dropper. When reusing the set, check the silicone head to make sure it is still flexible and does not retain the fragrance of the previous contents. Droppers are usually not reused when selling finished products; for your own production for home use, it is enough to wash and disinfect them thoroughly.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. The approval for direct contact with food applies separately to the glass bottle only, and the dropper does not have it, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. For homemade oils or herbal extracts intended for consumption, combine the bottle with a closure that also has approval for contact with food.

After use, the glass bottle belongs in glass recycling. The dropper consists of several materials, so separate it from the bottle before recycling.
