Product description

The 100 ml plastic pump bottle is a ready-to-use set for cosmetic preparations dispensed by pressing – body lotions, lighter creams, serums, facial and massage oils, liquid soaps, and cleansing gels. The brown PET bottle blocks light and helps protect contents that are sensitive to it, such as vegetable oils or preparations with vitamins or essential oils. Plastic is lightweight and shatterproof, which you will appreciate for products carried in a bag, used in the bathroom, or shipped to customers. The black-and-gold pump gives the bottle a look that needs no further decoration.

The bottle and pump share the same 24/410 neck size, so they fit together without any additional verification. The complete set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

Why choose this set

  • Protection of contents from light – the brown colouring of the PET bottle limits light reaching the contents, which is beneficial for oils and active ingredients prone to oxidation or colour fading.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the pump dispenses approximately 1 ml per full press. The customer takes exactly as much as needed, fingers do not come into contact with the contents, and the remainder stays in the sealed bottle.
  • Low weight and durability – PET will not shatter if dropped, does not add significant weight to shipments, and is also suitable for travel or sample packaging.
  • Consistent line appearance – the combination of the brown bottle and black-and-gold pump pairs well with labels in dark or natural tones, making it possible to build an entire product line in a consistent style.

What products is the set suitable for

The pump dispenser works best with contents that are liquid to medium-thick: body and facial lotions, light O/W emulsions, serums, moisturising gels, facial, body, and massage oils, liquid hand soaps, micellar waters, and cleansing oils. The 100 ml volume corresponds to a standard size for face and hair products (serums, oils for hair ends, facial lotions) or a smaller travel size for body cosmetics.

Very thick creams, butters, and balms the pump will generally not dispense, or they will clog it. For such textures, a jar or a bottle with a different closure type is more suitable. With contents containing solid particles (scrubs, preparations with granules), there is a risk of the tube or valve becoming blocked.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the container is intended at standard filling – in this case 100 ml. Total brim volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference between them provides a reserve for the tube and pump mechanism, which takes up some space once fitted, as well as for the expansion of contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If the bottle is overfilled, screwing on the pump will push the contents into the tube and they will leak out around the thread.

Working with the pump

The pump is screwed onto the bottle after filling. On first use, the pump needs to be pressed several times before the tube and chamber fill with the contents and it begins dispensing a full dose. The first empty presses are not a fault but normal priming of a new pump.

If the pump tube reaches deeper than the height of the bottle, trim it with a sharp knife or scissors before fitting so that its end sits just above the bottom. A tube bent against the bottom restricts suction and the bottle cannot be fully emptied; one that is too short, on the other hand, leaves residual contents at the bottom.

The consistency of the contents determines how readily the pump operates. Light oils and serums it dispenses smoothly; with thicker lotions, more force is required and the dose may be smaller than stated. Before fitting to an entire production batch, we recommend testing the pump with the finished formulation – not only for seal integrity, but also whether the valve starts to stick after a few days or whether the contents form a crust at the outlet as they dry.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Rinse both the bottle and the pump with clean water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Flush the pump by pressing it several times in the disinfectant solution and then in clean water, to clean the chamber and tube as well. Moisture remaining in the bottle would dilute anhydrous oils and introduce a microbial risk into water-based products.

PET sensitivity to certain ingredients. PET handles aqueous solutions, emulsions, and vegetable oils well. Do not expose it to aggressive chemicals. At higher concentrations of essential oils, alcohol, or organic solvents, the material may gradually change – become cloudy, soften, or absorb the scent. For such formulations, we recommend verifying compatibility in a short test with the actual contents before filling a larger quantity.

Transport of full bottles. The pump dispenser is intended for dispensing, not for extended transport of a full bottle on its side. When shipping to customers, it is worth packing the bottle upright and protecting the valve so it cannot be pressed during transit. Whether the pump maintains a seal in other positions with your specific formulation should be verified in advance.

Reuse. The bottle can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The pump is more demanding – residues in the tube and valve are harder to clean and may remain a source of contamination, so when changing formulations it is worth replacing the pump.

Labelling. The smooth cylindrical body of the bottle is suitable for both wrap-around and front labels. We recommend adhesive designed for plastic, as paper labels without suitable adhesive tend to lift at the corners on a smooth PET surface.

Recycling. The PET bottle belongs in sorted plastic waste. The pump combines plastic and aluminium, so unscrew it before recycling and dispose of it separately from the bottle.

The set is intended for cosmetic preparations. It is not approved for contact with food as a whole, and is therefore not suitable for household oils, syrups, or other food products.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown PET bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown colouring of the PET bottle limits light transmission to the contents and slows changes caused by light, such as oxidation of oils or fading of natural colorants. It is not complete blocking as with an opaque container, so light-sensitive preparations should be stored away from direct sunlight even in this bottle. For standard serums, oils, and lotions the protection is sufficient.
What cosmetic products can be filled into the 100 ml pump bottle?
The pump bottle is filled with liquid to medium-thick preparations: body and facial lotions, light emulsions, serums, moisturising gels, facial and massage oils, or liquid soaps. The pump dispenses approximately 1 ml per press, making it suitable for products used in small doses. Thick creams, butters, and preparations with exfoliating particles are not suitable – they will overload or clog the pump.
Why is the bottle filled only to the nominal volume and not to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml because the pump, once screwed on, takes up part of the internal space with the tube and mechanism, and the contents expand with temperature changes. The difference between the nominal and total volume is precisely this reserve. If filled to the brim, the contents will be forced through the thread when the pump is fitted and the bottle will leak.
Is the PET bottle suitable for oils and products with essential oils?
The PET bottle is suitable for vegetable oils, aqueous solutions, and emulsions and is commonly used for them. At higher concentrations of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, PET may over time soften, become cloudy, or absorb the scent, so compatibility with such a formulation is recommended to be verified in a short test before filling the entire batch. Anhydrous oil serums with a low proportion of essential oils generally do not cause a problem.
Can a closure other than the pump be used with the 24/410 bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a 24/410 neck and any closure with the same neck type will fit it, such as a cap or a spray pump. Ready-made bottle and closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing, and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation, as each closure works differently with different content consistencies.
