Product description

A brown plastic bottle with a black disc top cap and a volume of 200 ml is a ready-to-fill set for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic preparations. The bottle is made of lightweight and durable PET in a brown shade that filters light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, such as preparations containing vegetable oils, extracts, or essential oils. The disc top cap allows dispensing with one hand without unscrewing, making the set particularly suitable for bathroom use.

The volume and dispensing method make this set ideal for shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps, body lotions, and cleansing emulsions. It also works well for massage or body oils, provided they are fluid enough to be easily dispensed through the opening. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not intended for food use.

Why choose this set

  • Light protection for the contents – the brown shade of the bottle limits light exposure to the contents, which is an advantage for oils, extracts, and fragrance-based preparations that lose quality faster when exposed to light.
  • Convenient dispensing – the disc top opens by pressing one side of the cap, the contents are dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle, and pressing the disc back closes it again. Dispensing is quick and clean under normal use.
  • Lightweight and durable material – a PET bottle is significantly lighter than glass of the same volume, it will not break in a typical drop, and it can be squeezed, which is necessary for dispensing with a disc top cap.
  • Ready combination – the bottle and cap share the same neck type, so there is no need to select a cap and verify whether it will fit.

How the set works when filling and using

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for under standard filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference provides a margin for the cap and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Filling right to the neck would cause the contents to be forced out when closing, and the bottle would be harder to squeeze. Both values are listed in the product specifications.

The disc top cap works best with preparations of liquid to medium consistency. Very thin, watery liquids may drip from the opening or leak when the bottle is turned upside down. Thick creams and butters are hard to dispense through the opening. For formulations on the borderline, test the behaviour in advance with a small amount.

If you are filling an emulsion or gel, allow the preparation to cool completely to room temperature before filling. PET is not intended for hot filling, and warm contents may deform the bottle or create a vacuum inside as they cool.

What is good to know

Preparation before first filling. Rinse the bottle and cap before use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the bottle can dilute the preparation and increase the risk of microbial contamination.

Compatibility with contents. PET tolerates standard water-based cosmetic formulations, emulsions, surfactant products, and vegetable oils. The cap made of polypropylene is resistant to most cosmetic ingredients. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, check in advance whether the material changes in appearance, softens, or absorbs the fragrance.

Reuse. The set can be used again after thorough cleaning and disinfection. Pay attention to the inner channel of the disc top, where residue from the preparation tends to accumulate.

Labelling. A label adheres well to the body of the bottle. For bathroom products, we recommend water-resistant labels.

Caps and combinations. If you want to use the bottle with a different type of cap, Handymade's range includes caps with the same neck type and ready-made sets. When using your own combination, verify the seal, dispensing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.

The disc top is not completely leak-proof when carried in luggage or during prolonged storage on its side. When shipping filled bottles, secure the opening, for example with film under the cap or transport tape over the disc.

Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and the cap of polypropylene, so separate them before disposal and place them in plastic waste collection.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the brown shade of the PET bottle reduces light transmission and helps slow down changes in the contents that light accelerates. It is not complete darkness like an opaque container, but for oils, extracts, and fragrance-based preparations it offers significantly better protection than a clear bottle. For preparations that are particularly sensitive to light, also store them away from direct sunlight.
What products is the disc top cap suitable for on a 200 ml bottle?
The disc top is suitable for liquid to medium-consistency preparations that can be dispensed by squeezing the bottle. This typically includes shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, liquid soaps, body lotions, and thin oils. Very watery liquids may drip from the opening, and thick creams or butters are hard to dispense. For these, a different cap or jar is more appropriate.
How much does a 200 ml plastic bottle actually hold?
The bottle is intended to be filled with 200 ml, which is its nominal volume. Physically it holds more up to the brim; the exact total volume is listed in the product specifications. The difference between the two values serves as space for the cap and for expansion of the contents, which is why the bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck.
Can the plastic bottle with disc top cap be reused?
Yes, the set can be reused after cleaning and disinfecting. Wash the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry. For the cap, also clean the inner channel where residue from the preparation remains. If the disc stops sealing or loosens, replace the cap.
Is a PET bottle suitable for preparations containing essential oils?
For standard cosmetic concentrations of essential oils in finished preparations, a PET bottle is suitable. At high concentrations of essential oils, alcohol, or solvents, check compatibility in advance, as some ingredients can soften the plastic, cause it to become cloudy, or permeate through it. Do not fill pure, undiluted essential oils into plastic.
Is the bottle with disc top cap suitable for contact with both cosmetics and food?
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set is not approved for contact with food and is therefore not suitable for filling food-grade oils, syrups, or infusions intended for consumption. Use it for cosmetic preparations only.
