Product description

Brown glass bottle 300 ml with a black ribbed pump is a ready-made set for products that need light protection and convenient one-handed dispensing. Brown glass reduces light transmission, protecting contents sensitive to UV radiation: vegetable oils, blends with essential oils, or active ingredients that lose efficacy when exposed to light. The pump delivers approximately the same dose with each press, the contents cannot be spilled, and the customer does not touch them with their fingers.

The set is particularly suitable for liquid and mildly viscous products: body and massage oils, body lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos, lighter conditioners, makeup removal oils, or liquid serums in larger packaging. The 300 ml volume corresponds to standard packaging for a washbasin or dressing table where the product is used daily.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle has a certification for direct food contact on its own; the complete set including the pump is intended for cosmetic products.

Key benefits

  • Light protection – brown glass limits light access to the contents, slowing down oil oxidation and the breakdown of sensitive components. For clear products you want to showcase, clear glass from the range is more suitable.
  • Inert material – glass does not react with the contents, does not release substances into it, and does not absorb scents. Once washed, it can be reused without odour from the previous contents.
  • Convenient dispensing – the pump delivers a similar amount with each press, the product is dispensed one-handed, and the contents remain protected from contamination by fingers.
  • Stable bottle shape – a wide base and straight body keep the bottle firmly in place even with the pump fitted. The cylindrical body also provides a good surface for label adhesion.
  • Ready-made combination – the bottle and pump have the same neck type, so there is no need to worry about thread compatibility or the seal of your own selection.

Nominal and total volume – why they differ

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended for normal filling and which is stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and pump body, which after screwing in take up part of the space, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow after the pump is fitted. Both values can be found in the product parameters.

Working with the set in production

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle, disinfecting it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing it to dry completely. It is sufficient to rinse the pump with clean water or alcohol and allow to drip dry. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses.

The pump dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle. Before first use, trim it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it reaches just to the bottom without bending. A bent tube will not draw and the pump will not dispense.

The pump reliably dispenses liquid to medium-viscosity contents. Very thick creams, butters, or gels with high viscosity draw slowly or not at all; for these we recommend a jar or pot. Equally unsuitable are products with coarse particles (scrubs, suspensions with undissolved powder) that clog the valve. Thin oils and alcoholic toners may drip slightly from the nozzle after pressing. Such contents are better dispensed from a bottle with a dropper or spray.

The parts of the pump in contact with the contents are made of plastic. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils, solvents, or strong surfactants, we recommend verifying the pump's behaviour with the specific formulation over time. Monitor the seal, ease of operation, and any changes to the material.

Glass is poorly tolerant of sudden temperature changes. Never pour a hot phase into a cold bottle, and never place a filled bottle directly from cold into warm water. Allow the contents to cool to at least room temperature before filling.

What's good to know

  • Labelling – the straight cylindrical body allows a label to be applied around the full circumference or on the front side only.
  • Reuse – the glass bottle can be used multiple times after thorough washing and disinfection. Replace the pump if the action stiffens, the nozzle does not seal, or old contents have settled inside.
  • Glass in the shower – the bottle is glass and will break if dropped on tiles. It is ideal for a washbasin, dressing table, or massage table; for the shower cubicle we recommend a plastic bottle instead.
  • Filling – fill using a funnel or a dispensing bottle with a narrow neck. The bottle neck is narrow, and when filling directly from a pot the contents easily spill onto the thread, which then compromises the seal.
  • Other closures – other closures with the same neck type also fit the bottle; ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, verify the seal and dispensing with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes in glass, the pump in plastics. Separate them before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass significantly limits the passage of ultraviolet and part of visible light to the contents. It is therefore suitable for vegetable oils, blends with essential oils, and products with active ingredients sensitive to light, extending their stability. However, this does not mean you can leave the bottle in direct sunlight. Heat accelerates oxidation regardless of the colour of the glass.
Can the pump be used for body or massage oil?
Yes, the pump is suitable for oils, and massage and body oils are a typical use for this set. One-handed dispensing is practical during massage, and glass does not react with oil or with essential oils in it. With very thin oils, bear in mind that the nozzle may drip slightly after pressing.
Is this set suitable for thick creams or body butters?
No, the pump is not suitable for thick creams and butters. It reliably dispenses only liquid and medium-viscosity products – oils, lotions, liquid soaps, or shampoos. With thick contents the pump draws slowly, the dose is uneven, and the nozzle clogs. For creams and butters we recommend a jar or pot with a wide opening.
Is the glass bottle with pump also suitable for food?
No, the complete set is not declared for contact with food and is intended for cosmetic products. The glass bottle itself has a certification for direct food contact, but the pump does not have such an assessment. If you want to use the bottle for homemade oil or syrup, combine it with a closure that has food suitability stated in the parameters.
How to prepare the bottle and pump before the first filling?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry completely. Rinse the pump and allow to drip dry. Trim the pump dip tube to the height of the bottle so that it reaches just to the bottom without bending. Then fill the contents to the nominal volume of 300 ml, not to the brim, so that after screwing in the pump the contents do not overflow onto the thread.
