Product description
The amber glass pharmaceutical bottle, 300 ml, with a black fine mist sprayer is ready-to-use packaging for liquid cosmetic products that are applied by spraying. Dark glass reduces the amount of light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate especially with hydrolates, herbal toners and water-alcohol sprays with essential oils, where light accelerates changes in fragrance and colour. The larger volume suits products that are used often and in larger quantities, for example body sprays or room fragrances.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The glass bottle on its own additionally has a certificate for direct food contact, the sprayer does not, so the assembled set is intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food. Declarations of conformity for both components are provided with the product.
What the set is suitable for
- Hydrolates and facial toners – water-based products, where dark glass slows the effect of light and the sprayer divides the contents into fine droplets without hands touching the surface of the liquid.
- Hair and body sprays – light water-based or water-alcohol blends for freshening up, for example with glycerine, a hydrolate or a low proportion of solubilised essential oils.
- Room and textile fragrances – alcohol-based spray compositions for interiors, curtains or linen, where the larger volume and the fine mist from the sprayer are useful.
- Soap making aid – spraying alcohol onto the surface of freshly poured cold process soap is a common practice against the formation of soda ash, and this volume lasts for several batches.
- Cleaning solutions in the workshop – alcohol or diluted cleaners for the work surface and tools, where the glass bottle stands stably on the table.
The sprayer is built for liquid, thin contents. Thick serums, oils or emulsions will not pass through it evenly, they remain in the dip tube and the nozzle clogs. For oil-based products, a pump or dropper with the same neck type is more suitable.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them forms a reserve for the sprayer’s dip tube and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise part of the contents is pushed out through the neck when the sprayer is screwed on.
Before the first filling, fit the sprayer on a bottle with clean water and try several presses. This lets you verify that the dip tube reaches the bottom, the thread is seated straight and the nozzle gives an even mist. One press dispenses approximately 0.12 ml, which helps when estimating consumption per application.
Good to know
Before first use, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times empty so that the water leaves the dip tube and the mechanism. Residual moisture in the packaging dilutes the contents and increases the preservation requirements for water-based products.
Glass copes with normal temperature differences during filling, but pouring hot contents into a cold bottle may cause it to crack. Let the contents cool to approximately room temperature before filling.
The sprayer is made of polypropylene. For alcohol-based and strongly aromatic sprays, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the mechanism with your specific formulation in a small quantity before you fill the whole bottle. The ribbed collar makes tightening easier, even with wet hands. Closures with the same neck type fit the bottle neck, and you will find ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range.
Only the glass bottle on its own has a food-contact certificate. The sprayer does not, so do not use the set as a whole for kitchen oils, syrups or other foods.
The bottle can be reused after emptying and washing. When changing the contents, for example from an alcohol spray to a hydrolate, disinfect it again and rinse the sprayer so that fragrances and residues do not mix. Glass belongs in glass recycling, the sprayer in plastics. Separate both components before disposal.
