WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – stems, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic fragrance and, in addition, they also have healing and protective effects. They have a very positive effect on symptoms at the physical, emotional and mental level.
Their chemical composition is fairly complex. Essential oils are obtained from plants most often by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot, jojoba, etc.). The only exceptions are tea tree and lavender essential oils, which you can apply directly.
Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; we do not recommend consuming any essential oils of any brands.
Essential oils are fat-soluble, therefore if you want to use them in products without oils and butters, use a solvent /solubiliser/.
HOW CAN I USE ESSENTIAL OIL?
Making cosmetics and soaps – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific recipe and the quantity produced. Inhalation, steaming – drip a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser, or into a container with hot water.Bath – mix the oil drops into a base oil /coconut, olive.../, into 1 dl of milk or into a teaspoon of honey, then pour this mixture into the bathtub. Pure essential oils are not soluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to cold-pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. Enjoy a pleasant massage.Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus fragrances. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your preference.
Essential oils are also popular for use in skin care, local compresses, hair masks, in oral hygiene care...
