BOTTLE SALTS

The term cosmetic salts is most often thought of as bath salts. And this is also one of the most common uses of cosmetic salts. Almost all types of salts can be used for baths. See the overview below.

Bath salts don't have to be complicated, basically you just need to take out your favorite cosmetic salts and dissolve them in the bath water. However, if you want to be more creative or gift your loved ones, bath salts can easily be spiced up.

One method to make your own original bath salts is to use essential oils. Simply drizzle the salt added to the bath.
Another option is to use fragrance oils as well, thus enriching the bath salts with different citrus and exotic variations.

You can also colour the bath salts. The most common way to do this is with mica powders that you mix into the bath salts. You can also reach for fruit powders. Activated charcoal is both a colouring agent and an active ingredient with purifying effects. In the case of fruit powders, make sure that the unconsumed salt does not come into contact with water, otherwise micro-organisms will grow, or use a preservative to be on the safe side.

You can also mix cosmetic salts with herbs to create a relaxing bath. Again, store such unconsumed salts away from moisture, otherwise the herbs may mould.

If you want a more substantial treatment for your skin, mix the cosmetic salts with a small amount of your chosen oil. This way you will get a nourishing mixture for your skin. However, be careful when getting out of the bath - the oils will cause a slippery surface and there is a risk of slipping.

PEELING SALTS

Scrubs can also contain salts in them. Here, always reach for the finer types of salt (i.e. finely ground cosmetic salts) so as not to irritate your skin unnecessarily. This is especially worthwhile if you are applying exfoliating salts to sensitive parts of the body.

Again, you can add essential oils to the scrubs. A very popular combination is a mixture of cosmetic salts and vegetable oils. Of course, you can also colour the mixture, e.g. with mica powders.

If you want your scrubs to be firmer, you can also reach for vegetable butters in addition to oils. You melt these together with the oils and then mix them with salt and other ingredients.

SALTS FOR SOAPS

Cosmetic salts can also be used to make homemade soaps more decorative and interesting. Cosmetic salts are most commonly used to cover the surface of soap, where they not only serve as decoration but also help to nourish the skin thanks to their mineral content. Cosmetic salts can be applied to the surface of soaps made from hydroxide, as well as those made from soap masses.

Finely ground cosmetic salts, such as Epsom salts, are added directly to the mixture. The coarse-grained ones are placed at the bottom of the mould, covered with the mass and thus form a decoration on the surface of the fizzy bomb. Alternatively, a small amount can also be added to the mixture.

Epsom salt

Epsom salt differs from traditional table salt in that its base is not sodium but magnesium. Specifically, it is magnesium sulphate, which is what Epsom salt is made of. Epsom salt is one of the cosmetic salts that you will appreciate after strenuous sporting activity and even if you have tired muscles - a bath with epsom salt helps to relax and regenerate your muscles.

because it is most often found finely ground. You'll also appreciate it in foot scrubs - it helps remove dead skin on the soles of the feet.

Sea salt

Sea salt is one of the most well-known cosmetic salts. It is obtained simply - by evaporating sea water or water from sea lakes. Sea salt is rich in a variety of minerals, including potassium and magnesium, and varies in its content, and hence in its colour or grain size, depending on its place of origin.

Coarse-grained sea salt is a great ingredient for baths, and is also useful for making soaps and fizzy bombs. It also has antibacterial
 and detoxifying effects. Thanks to its mineral content, sea salt baths also help promote relaxation and sleep.

Cosmetic salts include finely ground sea salt. Thanks to its smaller particles, it is particularly useful in cosmetics. It is suitable for body scrubs and the like. Sea salt can also be used in hair products; sea salt sprays are popular for giving hair a holiday touch.

Himalayan salt

Himalayan salt is an interesting type of salt that is characterised by granules with a red, pink or white tint. This colouring gives Himalayan salt its high content of minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and, above all, iron.

Himalayan salt is a cosmetic salt that can be found ground to varying thicknesses. Finely ground Himalayan salt is suitable for use in cosmetics because of its antibacterial and detoxifying properties.

Coarse-grained Himalayan salt, on the other hand, can be used in spas, in the creation of bath salts, and to decorate the surface of soaps and fizzy bombs. Again in the bath, Himalayan salt brings benefits to the skin - thanks to its antibacterial effects, it helps fight acne
and has cleansing properties.

DISHWASHER SALT

Your dishwasher will appreciate salt too. Dishwasher salt in the form of crystals is classified as industrial salt, i.e. not intended for
for use in cosmetic products. The advantage of using dishwasher salt is that it softens the water and thus protects the dishwasher
from limescale build-up. Dishwasher salt is pure sodium chloride, which also contributes to the cleanliness and shine of the dishes.
