Frankincense essential oil, also known as Frankincense or Boswelia carterii, is obtained from the white milky resin of the frankincense tree. After the drops of resin are left to dry over the course of several days, they are scraped off to produce the essential oil. The frankincense tree, or Boswelia carterii tree, comes from regions of Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula. The best-known source of frankincense is Oman. This essential oil has a distinctive aroma – woody, earthy and spicy with fruity undertones. It was already used in the Middle Ages, when it was burned at sacred places and during religious rituals. In aromatherapy it is used to support good breathing and cleanse the respiratory tract. Its scent also has sedative effects and enhances mood, thereby reducing manifestations of anxiety and stress, while at the same time improving memory and concentration.Frankincense oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it is excellent for formulations for reddened, sensitive and damaged skin. It helps to disinfect and tighten pores, thus supporting faster healing of wounds and scars. At the same time, it supports the growth of new skin cells and stimulates blood circulation. All supplied raw materials are of cosmetic grade, not suitable for internal use. Use appropriate protective equipment when handling.
WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – trunks, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic scent and, in addition, have healing and protective effects. They act very positively on symptoms on the physical, emotional and mental levels.
Their chemical composition is fairly complex. The volatile oils are obtained from plants most often by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot kernel, jojoba, etc.). The only exceptions are tea tree essential oil and lavender essential oil, which you can apply directly.
Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; the consumption of any essential oils of any brands is not recommended.
Essential oils are fat-soluble, so if you want to use them in products without oils and butters, use a solvent /solubilizer/.
HOW CAN I USE THE ESSENTIAL OIL?
Cosmetics and soap making – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific recipe and the quantity produced. Inhalation, steaming – drip a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser or a container with hot water.Bath – mix the drops of oil in a base oil /coconut, olive.../, in 1 dl of milk or in a teaspoon of honey, and pour this mixture into the bathtub. Pure essential oils are not soluble in water; the drops would float on the surface.Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to a cold-pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. Enjoy a pleasant massage.Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus scents. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your taste.
Essential oils are also popular for use in skincare, local compresses, hair masks, oral care...
