The rich sweet citrus fragrance of this essential oil is an excellent odour repellent and cleanser. Lemon essential oil is used especially in formulations intended for oily skin and acne problems. Lemon essential oil is produced by cold pressing the peel of the fruit Citrus limon (L.) Burm. (Fam. Rutaceae). For this reason it is photosensitive – after applying it to the skin it is not recommended to expose it to direct sunlight. This reaction should not occur as long as you do not use more than 2 % cold-pressed essential oil.All supplied raw materials are of cosmetic grade, not suitable for internal use. When handling, use appropriate protective equipment.
WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – stems, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic scent and, in addition, have healing and protective effects. They act very positively on symptoms on a physical, emotional and mental level.
Their chemical composition is relatively complex. Essential oils are most often obtained from plants by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot kernel, jojoba, etc.). The only exception is tea tree and lavender essential oil, which you can apply directly.
Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; the consumption of any essential oils of any brands is not recommended.
Essential oils are fat-soluble, therefore if you want to use them in products without oils and butters, use a solvent /solubiliser/.
HOW DO I USE ESSENTIAL OIL?
Cosmetic and soap making – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific recipe and the quantity produced. Inhalation, steaming – drip a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser, or a container with hot water.Bath – mix the drops of oil in a base oil /coconut, olive.../, in 1 dl of milk or in a teaspoon of honey, pour this mixture into the bathtub. Essential oils on their own are insoluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to a cold-pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. Enjoy a pleasant massage.Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus fragrances. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your preference.
Essential oils are also commonly used in skin care, local compresses, hair masks, in oral hygiene care...
