Frequently asked questions
Azeloglycine is a potassium salt bound to glycine, thanks to which it dissolves in water and is much easier to incorporate than pure azelaic acid, which is practically insoluble in water. It is effective at the usual pH of the product and does not require high concentrations or an acidic environment, which makes it gentler to the skin.
It is well tolerated with water-soluble components that are added to the same phase – for example with niacinamide for tone evening, with hyaluronic acid and panthenol for hydration. Thanks to this, it can be included in more complex serums and creams without compatibility issues.
Yes. It belongs among the gentler active ingredients and is usually well tolerated even where stronger acids irritate the skin. Nevertheless, for a new formulation we recommend first testing tolerance on a small area.
By itself, it is not known as a substance that causes photosensitivity. However, for products focused on evening out skin tone, we generally recommend supplementing with daily sun protection in order to maintain the result.
Since it is soluble in water, it can also be incorporated into cleansing gels. However, it is most effective in products that remain on the skin (serums, creams, toners), where it has time to act. In rinse-off products, its benefit is naturally smaller.
