Product description

A blue plastic bottle with a capacity of 200 ml and a white-gold pump dispenser is a ready-to-fill set for liquid to medium-viscosity cosmetic products dispensed by pressing. The bottle is made of PET, making it lightweight and shatterproof. The pump with a 24/410 neck delivers an approximately equal dose each time without unscrewing the cap, which is practical for body lotions, liquid soaps or shampoos in the bathroom as well as in a salon or other professional setting.

What the set is suitable for

  • Body lotions and light emulsions – a liquid to medium-viscosity emulsion passes through the tube and pump without difficulty and dispensing is even.
  • Liquid soaps and shower gels – the 200 ml volume matches typical usage at a washbasin or in the shower, and the pump prevents overpour.
  • Shampoos and conditioners with a liquid consistency – suitable primarily for low to medium viscosity; very thick conditioners would be difficult to dispense.
  • Hand cleansing gels and cleansing emulsions – one dose is sufficient for a single application and the contents do not come into contact with the hands during dispensing.
  • Face and body oils – the pump can handle oil-based products as well; however, with a high proportion of essential oils it is advisable to check the behaviour of the plastic.

How to use the set

The pump is screwed onto the bottle neck and on first use pressed several times until the tube fills and the product starts to flow. The dose size is stated in the product specifications and can serve as a basis when writing the usage instructions for the customer. The white pump with a gold ring has a subtle appearance on the bottle, so the set needs no additional decorative elements — a label is all it requires.

The pump tube is supplied with extra length. Before assembling for the first time, trim it with a slanted cut so that it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the bottom and allows almost all of the contents to be dispensed.

The pump is designed for products that flow. Thick creams, butters and gels with high viscosity dispense poorly or not at all through it; a jar or pot is more suitable for those. Conversely, very thin water-based products such as tonics and hydrolates are better applied with a spray, as they flow in a stream from the pump.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions, and it is the figure stated on the label. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always larger. The difference provides a reserve for the tube and the pump body, which displace some of the contents upward when screwed on, as well as for the expansion of the product with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling all the way to the neck would cause the product to overflow when the pump is tightened.

Good to know

The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product. The bottle alone holds a food-contact certificate. The pump does not, so the set is intended for cosmetics and is not used for food purposes.

Before the first filling, both the bottle and the pump are washed, disinfected and left to dry completely. Residual water would dilute the product and impair its microbiological stability. When reusing, rinse the tube and pump mechanism with warm water and a cleaning agent to remove any residue of the previous product.

The bottle is not intended for aggressive chemicals. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, citrus terpenes or solvents, we recommend testing with one bottle first, as these ingredients may soften or cloud the plastic over time. The bottle is also not intended for hot-fill; the product is filled only after it has cooled to room temperature.

Caps with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing behaviour with the specific formulation. The empty PET bottle belongs in sorted plastic waste; the pump should be removed before disposal, as it combines plastic and aluminium.

Frequently asked questions

What viscosity of products can be dispensed with the 200 ml plastic pump bottle?
The pump is suitable for liquid to medium-viscosity products that pour freely — for example body lotion, liquid soap, shampoo or oil. Thick creams and butters cannot be dispensed through it; the tube will not draw them up. If the formulation flows slowly but continuously when the bottle is tilted, the pump will generally manage it. When in doubt, a test with one unit helps.
Is the 200 ml plastic pump bottle suitable for oil-based products?
Yes, both the PET bottle and the pump can handle vegetable oils and oil serums. Caution is advised with products containing a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, which may soften the plastic over time. In such cases, it is recommended to fill one bottle first and check the seal, plastic clarity and product scent after a few weeks.
Can the pump bottle set be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be used again after thorough cleaning. Rinse the tube and mechanism with warm water and a cleaning agent, then with clean water, and allow to dry. If traces of a thick product or the scent of the previous contents remain in the pump, it is better to use a new pump and keep only the bottle.
Can I fill the blue pump bottle with food products, such as kitchen oil?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. The blue PET bottle alone holds a food-contact certificate, but the pump does not carry such a declaration. The set is therefore intended for cosmetic products. For kitchen oils or syrups, choose a bottle with a cap that has a food-contact certificate.
Why should the pump bottle not be filled all the way to the brim?
Because the tube and pump body take up space and push the level upward when screwed on. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, which is stated on the label. The remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the pump and for the expansion of the product with temperature changes. Filling all the way to the brim would cause the product to overflow when closing and contaminate the thread.
