Product description
This is a ready-made packaging and closure set: an opaque black glossy plastic bottle 200 ml and a dispenser pump in a white-gold finish. The set is intended for cosmetic preparations dispensed by pressing – body lotions, face and body oils, liquid soaps, shampoos and conditioners of thinner consistency, cleansing gels and massage preparations.
The black opaque material protects the contents from light, which is particularly appreciated by formulations with plant oils, vitamins or essential oils. The bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom, travel, and salons or establishments where glass is not practical.
Why choose this set
- Light protection – the opaque black wall blocks daylight and artificial light from reaching the contents, so oxidation-sensitive ingredients remain stable for longer without the need for dark glass.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents never come into contact with hands and each press releases the same measured dose. Compared to an open jar, there is less risk of introducing microorganisms and less waste.
- Lightweight and shatterproof packaging – the plastic bottle can withstand a drop on tiles, which is more practical than glass for shower and bathroom products.
- Coordinated appearance – the glossy black bottle with a white-gold pump creates a cohesive look without any further customisation; a light-coloured label stands out well on the dark surface.
- Ready to fill – the bottle and the pump share the same neck type, so no mixing and matching or thread compatibility checks are required.
What the set is and is not suitable for
The pump is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity preparations: body lotions, light emulsions, oils, serums, liquid soaps, shampoos, conditioners, cleansing gels and massage oils. Thick creams, butters and balms will not be drawn up by the pump or will dispense unevenly – a jar or pot is more suitable for these. Preparations with solid particles (scrubs, sugar or salt blends) may block the mechanism. Tonics and hydrolats intended to be applied as a fine mist are better suited to a spray bottle. The pump does not create foam – a foam pump is required for foaming soaps.
Before filling a larger batch, we recommend testing the dispensing with the specific formulation. Viscosity, oil content and any particles affect how smoothly the pump draws up the contents and whether it returns to its original position after pressing.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides clearance for the pump, which takes up some space with its dip tube and body once screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will be forced out through the neck when the pump is attached.
Good to know
- Before first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Prime the pump with clean water or alcohol before use and allow to drain.
- The pump dip tube should reach all the way to the bottom so that the pump draws up the last few millilitres. When assembling, check its length and trim it at an angle if necessary – an angled end will not suction to the bottom.
- Suitable contents – the bottle is intended for aqueous preparations, emulsions and plant oils. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the packaging in the finished formulation (cloudiness, softening, odour, stickiness of the walls).
- Filling temperature – the bottle is not intended for hot filling. Allow emulsions and soaps to cool before filling; hot contents will deform the bottle.
- Reuse – after emptying, wash both the bottle and the pump thoroughly, pump through clean water and alcohol and allow to dry. The scent of the previous contents may not be fully removed from the plastic.
- Other closures – closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dispensing performance with the specific formulation.
- Recycling – the bottle is made from a single type of plastic and belongs in sorted plastic waste. The pump combines plastic with an aluminium component, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.
The food-contact certificate applies to the bottle separately. The set with the pump is intended as a whole for cosmetics and is not recommended for filling food products.
Both the bottle and the pump are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available with the product.
