Product description

Ready-to-use set of a clear 500 ml PET bottle and a black trigger sprayer for everything that needs to be evenly sprayed over a larger area. Suitable for hydrolats and facial or hair tonics in larger sizes, for leave-in spray conditioners, for air and fabric fresheners, or for cleaning solutions for home and workshop use. The clear bottle shows how much content remains, and PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, so the set can handle everyday drops during work.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not approved for contact with food; it is intended for cosmetics and technical solutions.

How the set works

The trigger sprayer has a dip tube and a lever that you press with your fingers like a trigger. Each press delivers a fixed dose and disperses it over a surface; you will find the dose size in the product parameters. Unlike a standard fine-mist sprayer with a small button, the trigger handles a larger volume per stroke, making it suited for surfaces rather than delicate facial application.

The sprayer screws onto the bottle at the smooth collar. The dip tube is supplied longer than the height of the bottle so it can be trimmed to fit.

Before the first fill, trim the dip tube at an angle so that it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the bottom and allows the contents to be used down to almost the last drop.

What works in this set

The sprayer works reliably with thin aqueous and alcoholic solutions: hydrolats, tonics, weak surfactant solutions, salt or soda solutions, and air fresheners with low fragrance content. Thicker liquids such as gels, emulsions, or undiluted oils will either not be expelled at all or will come out as a stream rather than a mist.

With pure oils and products with a high proportion of essential oils, caution is warranted. PET and PP are resistant to common cosmetic raw materials, but concentrated essential oils, terpenes, and strong solvents can soften or cloud the plastic over time. With such contents, we recommend carrying out a test on a single unit before a larger batch and monitoring the seal, discolouration, and lever action for several weeks.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brimful volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the sprayer dip tube and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim; otherwise, when the sprayer is screwed on, some of the contents will be pushed out through the neck.

Good to know

  • Light – the clear bottle does not protect the contents from light. It is suitable for solutions that are not light-sensitive, or for products that are used up quickly. Substances sensitive to light, such as certain plant extracts and colorants, should be stored in a brown or opaque container instead.
  • Preparation before filling – wash both the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Pump clean water through the sprayer several times, then pump air through to clear any residual water from the mechanism.
  • Preservation – water-based products in a bottle with a sprayer require a preservative, just as they would in any other container. The dip tube and pump head draw air back into the bottle, so the contents are not sealed from micro-organisms.
  • Heat – PET should be filled cold or lukewarm. Hot solutions will deform the bottle, so allow them to cool before filling.
  • Reuse – the set can be washed and used again. Rinse the sprayer head with clean water after every product containing surfactants or salt to prevent dried residue from blocking the valve.
  • Standard self-adhesive labels adhere well to PET, except on surfaces that are greasy from oil.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, the sprayer of PP. When disposing of them, unscrew them from each other and discard according to the rules for plastics.

During long-term storage with salt, soda, or surfactant solutions, dried residue in the sprayer head can block the lever. Store the empty set rinsed out and dry.

Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dose output, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Can oil be sprayed with the trigger sprayer on a 500 ml bottle?
Pure oil will not be sprayed by the trigger; at best it will come out as a thin stream. The mechanism is designed for thin aqueous and alcoholic liquids; with thicker contents the lever is hard to press and the nozzle clogs. If you need a spray oil, choose a container with a sprayer designed for oil-based products, and always test the performance on a single unit first.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. The set is therefore suitable for solutions without light-sensitive ingredients, or for products that are used up within a few weeks. If the product is stored for longer or contains sensitive extracts, we recommend an opaque or amber container, or storing it in a cupboard away from sunlight.
How full should the 500 ml bottle be filled when using the trigger sprayer?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, i.e. 500 ml, not to the brim. Above this level, a reserve remains for the sprayer dip tube and for expansion of the contents in warmer weather. If filled to the neck, some of the contents will be pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on, and the bottle may overflow when the trigger is pressed.
Is the set with the trigger sprayer suitable for alcoholic solutions?
Yes, standard water-based alcoholic solutions such as air fresheners or disinfectant sprays are fine for both the sprayer and the bottle. With a high proportion of ethanol combined with a large amount of essential oils, we recommend testing on a single unit, as concentrated essential oils can cloud the plastic over time. Rinse the sprayer head with water after use to prevent fragrance residue from remaining inside.
How do you clean the trigger sprayer when it stops spraying?
The most common remedy is to pump warm water through the head and then air until a clean stream comes out. Blockages are caused by dried residue from salt, soda, or surfactants in the nozzle and valve. If water alone is not enough, leave the head and dip tube to soak in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, then pump through and dry.
