Frankincense CO₂-se extract ORGANIC is a pure natural extract from the resin of the tree Boswellia carterii, obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. This gentle method makes it possible to preserve a high content of active substances, including boswellic acids, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and diterpenic alcohols (incensol, serratol). The extract is light yellow, clear, liquid and is characterized by a typical balsamic, woody-citrus aroma with a slightly spicy note. It is obtained from organically certified resin originating from trees growing in Somalia and meets the standards of organic quality (BIO, COSMOS, HALAL, KOSHER). The CO₂ extract also contains heavier molecules, such as boswellic acids and diterpenoid alcohols, which are lost during distillation. Therefore, it has a more pronounced anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect and acts more comprehensively on the skin.
It has a warm, balsamic and slightly citrus aroma with fine spicy notes – typical of high-quality Boswellia carterii frankincense.
The abbreviation CO₂-se denotes a so‑called selective extract – a selective CO₂ extract obtained by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. In this process, mainly volatile aromatic components (monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes) and a minimum of heavier substances are extracted. The result is an extract similar to an essential oil, but with higher purity and stability. In contrast to CO₂-to (total extract), which also contain resins and waxes, “selective” extracts are clear, light and ideal for cosmetic formulations.
Yes, it is used in meditative blends, perfumes and body oils for its harmonizing aroma. Before use, it must always be diluted in a carrier.
