Petitgrain essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the bitter orange tree, specifically from the leaves and twigs.
Thanks to its distinct refreshing scent, slightly woody yet still floral, it has found its use mainly in aromatherapy, for alleviating symptoms of depression, as well as emotional states such as anxiety, stress, anger and fear.
It is also used in perfumery as an ingredient in sprays, perfumes, lotions, colognes, and is a popular ingredient in both women’s and men’s facial and hair care cosmetics. In addition, it also has deodorizing and antiseptic properties. During pregnancy it relieves nausea and removes the urge to vomit. All supplied raw materials are of cosmetic grade, not suitable for internal use. WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – trunks, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic scent and in addition have healing and protective effects. They have a very positive effect on symptoms on the physical, emotional and mental level.
Their chemical composition is fairly complex. Essential oils are most commonly obtained from plants by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot, jojoba, etc.). The only exception is tea tree and lavender essential oil, which you can apply directly.
Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; consumption of any essential oils of any brands is not recommended.
Essential oils are fat-soluble, therefore if you want to use them in products that do not contain oils and butters, use a solvent /solubilizer/.
HOW CAN I USE ESSENTIAL OIL?
Cosmetics and soap making – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific formula and the quantity produced. Inhalation, steaming – drop a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser, or a container with hot water.Bath – mix drops of the oil into a base oil /coconut, olive.../, into 1 dl of milk or into a teaspoon of honey, pour this mixture into the bathtub. Pure essential oils are insoluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to a cold-pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. Enjoy a pleasant massage.Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus scents. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your preference.
Essential oils are also widely used in skin care, local compresses, hair masks, in oral hygiene care...
