WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils, also called ethereal oils, are natural aromatic substances that come from various parts of plants – stems, roots, seeds, flowers, leaves, etc. They give plants their characteristic scent and, in addition, they also have healing and protective effects. They have a very positive effect on symptoms on the physical, emotional or mental level.
Their chemical composition is fairly complicated. Essential oils are most often obtained from plants by distillation, extraction or pressing. Essential oils are highly concentrated and are used directly on the skin only after dilution with carrier vegetable oils (almond, apricot, jojoba, etc.). The only exception is essential oil from tea tree and lavender, which you can apply directly.
Use essential oils for inhalation or in your cosmetic products; the consumption of any essential oils of any brands is not recommended.
Essential oils are fat-soluble, therefore if you want to use them in products without oils and butters, use a solvent /solubilizer/.
HOW DO I USE THE ESSENTIAL OIL?
Manufacturing cosmetics and soaps – the required amount of essential oil depends on the specific recipe and the quantity produced. Inhalation, steaming – drop a few drops of essential oil into an aroma lamp, diffuser, or a container with hot water.Bath – mix the drops of oil in a base oil /coconut, olive.../, in 1 dl of milk or in a teaspoon of honey, pour this mixture into the bathtub. Essential oils alone are insoluble in water, the drops would float on the surface.Massage – add a few drops of essential oil to cold-pressed vegetable oil (approx. 50 ml) and mix well. Enjoy a pleasant massage.Sauna – you can choose from conifers, rosemary, eucalyptus, sage, mint or citrus scents. The number of drops depends on the size of the sauna and your taste.
Essential oils are also commonly used in skin care, local compresses, hair masks, in oral hygiene care...
